Old Chinaman Gulch 11/17/07

What a great day to get out and wheel! Weather was perfect, 60's and sunny! We had the trail to ourselves so it was nice and quiet. Here are some pics of the Toyota's that attended. The full trip report can be seen here - Trip Report on the Rockfrogs site

This trail has gotten tougher since I ran it last year in November. I ran it in stock form last year with little problems. I'd rather run it built than stock though :D

NICE!!

How did you like the sleeper? That has gotten HARD. When we ran it this summer, I got jammed up bad there.

Now you just need to ask santa for some new tires.

Traildamage gives it a low rating of 4. I do believe that needs to be upped to a 5. I always enjoy running Chinamans. It's got enough tough lines to satisfy the built rigs but has some stuff for the rigs slightly lifted and a rear locker.

Yup, I need tires BAD. But I don't see them anytime in the near future. It's scary to think what lines I'll be able to take with some sticky 36's :D

I actually couldn't drive over that rock. I would have put it on it's side. But I was able to put my passenger tires on the big rocks and keep the body far away from that body dragger.

WOW! Great pics, thanks for sharing. Those are my thoughts exactly lol. I tried to run Slaughterhouse not too long ago in stock form on my 235's lol. No dice! Had to leave it halfway there. I like the idea of running it built vs stock also. :bigok:

We headed up to Rock Garden on Sun. It was fun and the day was gorgeous!

I SO want to run this trail - it's down in BV right? Maybe take both rigs and run Carnage with Molly's...

Yup, BV Carnage and Chinamans are right next to each other. I would seriously think twice about running BV Carange alone with just Molly's rig. You would probably only have enough daylight to run one or the other with these short days. Molly's rig would have just as much fun on Chinaman's as your rig.

Chinaman's is hands down a way better trail than Boulder Carnage :banger:

x 1billion....Absolutely.

No way I would run BV Carnage by ourselves! I was thinking maybe a weekend deal, OCG one day, Carnage the next.

That would be the way to do it!

I have been looking at this trail like crazy and really wanna run it. Is it something i could do with my truck still IFS? I just dont wanna drive all that way and not be able to make it through the first 100 feet

ozziesironmanoffroad 11-28-2007 04:36 AM

not sure id trust IFS with them rocks.. they look pretty mean. i may be wrong, but those rocks are just waiting to make someone with IFS have a REALLY bad day

Corey 11-28-2007 04:42 AM

Very nice pictures, they would have looked good in the calendar too.

After things cool down, I would like start back up the "Featured Rigs" thing, but a little different than last time.

You will be fine. We've done it a couple times. The first time was with both my truck, and my dads 4runner. He is lifted with a front bumper, but open. He had no trouble on all the rocks, and only needed a tug in one place, which was a pothole, not rocks.

With your rear locker, you'll have no trouble.

It may look that way, but IFS is fine on that trail. It actually does great.

Your truck would do just fine. I was playing on every big rock I could find :hillbill: I wouldn't go alone though.

I drooled on my keyboard.
