Hollister Hills, Sat. December 3, 2005, Pictures

It was a blast. It was my first real off-road trip, and I couldn't have had more fun in one day. For a stock truck with street tires, I believe mine performed well enough. As someone said at the end of the day "...'cuz it's a Toyota". Go figure.

I stuck around with a group of about 8 trucks consisting mostly of Toyota's and Jeeps, but also two Fords. People from YT include me, bulldog-yota, yelosub7 and Jared Ajlouny. Maybe some others, but I didn't grab their handles.

Even though there were more people, I really only wheeled with my buddy Chris who went in his Ford Bronco and bulldog-yota, because all the others had some tough trucks and went to trails we couldn't compete with or didn't want to go on.

I think that's about it...Hollister Hills is a great place to be if you want a variety of obstacles for a variety of trucks. Enough now, here are some of my pix. You can find the rest here: http://www.marko3xl3.com/images/hh/

If you want full-size copies of any of the pix for any reason, let me know.

Groupshot from the top of Five Finger Hill

Another...

A Jeep takin' on Bonanza Gulch

Nope, it's not spray on mud

Me climbing up truck hill (I made it too!)

Me towing out my buddy Chris (my fault he got stuck anyways)

A 2nd gen who got stuck in a mudpit because his 3.0 stalled after submerging his exhaust

After the fact

This is where we were...nice place, eh

Another shot of Hollister Hills

TRUCKS
Desert Dune 3rd gen w/ black front end: Me
Silver 4th Gen: bulldog_yota
White Bronco: My friend Chris
Brown 2nd gen: YeloSub7
Black 1st gen: Jared Ajlouny
and others...

Also, for all of you who think spotting is easy, it's not...but that story is for another day. <- Just for the record

'till next time...
Marko

Nope, just the cheap primer on new body parts . I am planning to match the front to the original color of the truck once my Penny Pig says I can.

We got lucky that it rained so much 2 days before. Anymore rain and it would suck, any less rain and there would be no traction, so yeah, good times! I am pretty sure people were just worried that it would keep raining.

And YeloSub, you did just fine

Haha, same here. I felt like my left front wheel is gonna fall off. It got better toward the end of the return trip though.

You learn something new everyday.

I never thought of that, but that makes sense. I cleaned the car a little, it's not spotless...it'll take a while to get all the chunks off, but at least I don't have to worry as much now!

Thanks!

See why IH8MUD

Too much of a PITA to clean. Even after the sprinkler trick, I still need to get in underneath with a pressure washer too clean of various areas.

Where are the other pictures guys??

So he wasn't kidding about the sprinkler trick. Well, that would look weird in front of the neighbors.

Also, how the heck do you get under the truck to pressure wash it? Just dress into some clothes you don't care about, bring another set of clothes, drive it to the car wash and crawl under your truck?

Mud sux, true, but it's fun driving through it too! For now at least... I'll let you know what I think after the next time I have to clean.

Yeah people might think you are silly watering your 4Runner LOL

Nah I just stand on my hand and knees and use the extened length of the pressure washer to get in underneath.

If only ones dog could be trained to clean your truck .

Sit Spot! Good Boy! Now, Pressure Washer Spot! Pressure Washer! Come on now, you can do it!

Even if you could, I dont' have a dog, so it's hands and knees for me. If only it was summer .
