Grass Valley, California

Not sure exactly where we went, We went up Highway 49, got off and then hit up some trails that 93yotaSR5's Girlfriend's Brother showed us. And we eventually ended up at Highway 20. So somewhere between Auburn and a little past Nevada City. It was just a quick day trip, nothing too crazy because i'm stuck in 2wd for now since i have mismatched gears ( 4.10s up front and 4.88s in the rear ) but i have a locker now, so this was the test. Here's some pictures.

Introduction:

The Group:

Couple single shots:

Testing out the locker:

Wheeling time:

93yotaSR5's hill climb

Over confident with new gears and a locker with no 4wd:

MKtaco_98's puddle splashing:

93yotaSR5's Girlfriend's Dad's Jeep:

Later in the day

At this point in day, 93yotaSR5's Girlfriend's Brother had to leave and go to work. He was the driver of the Green jeep:

End of the day:

Scenery shots:

Videos:

My 2WD Locker Test:

Details: No 4WD, 4.88 gears, Aussie locker, no momentum, dead stop from edge of the big ass puddle. made it through no problem

It was amazing up there... really wet/muddy and had patchy snow everywhere.

That first place you were in is called Greenhorn I believe. I went there a couple years back, but I thought that it got closed down, maybe not.

I know they considered closing it down because of all the trash, and I know that they had a huge community clean up. but that was years back. Maybe that prevented it from being closed? needless to say, it was a sick trail. definitely something i wanna do again when i have 4wd.

That looked like a lot of fun! My in laws live in Chicago Park, just outside of Colfax/Grass Valley and we're up here a lot. I've never taken my truck offroad to be honest - been afraid of breaking something and getting stranded - but what you guys did looks like good "entry level" wheeling

Do you guys have a message board that you check/update when you go in this area? I'm up here a lot and may want to join you next time.

Well, we all have eachother's phone numbers, so we don't usually post that were going somewhere. most communication is done by phone. Where in California are you located?

looks fun. i was under the presumption that greenhorn was closed as well. at least the majority of what used to be accessible is now closed. time for another sac-area roundup at rattlesnake, grass valley, or foresthill?

We went through a different entrance. It was my first time up there, so I don't know where the correct entrance is. but yeah, I'm down for whatever, whenever.
