Four peaks cleanup 2/9/08
Here are my photo's from the 4 peaks cleanup.
http://s162.photobucket.com/albums/t...aks%20Cleanup/ I'm sure Tim will chime with the overview. I'm pooped. |
Tim did an awesome job putting it together. 215 people signed the registration sheet, my guess is there were even more than that. They filled a roll-off container before noon, and I believe the remaining pile would have filled 3 more. Amazing how much trash people leave in such a beautiful area... actually its kinda sickening. I neglected to bring my camera, so no pics from me. I had fun today, met some cool people, saw some cool rigs, and got a mean red neck sunburn.

Awesome turn out! You guys look like you did an outstanding job. Sheriff buggy is pretty bad ass, lol.

Great Job!

holy cow, that pile of trash looks like a city dump! Everyone involved deserves a honorable mention.
Whats the story behind the sheriff buggy? |
Tim did a great job puttin this together, made the local news and we got alot of crap picked up in a few hours work..we filled a 20 yard dumpster with 30 yards of junk and then the pile you see was built. the FS came out the next day to pick it up with their equipment only to find it smoldering as it was lit on fire at some point in the night.
many sponsors stepped up with raffle prizes and a ton of burgers and drinks for all involved and a few who showed up for the raffle and food :bang: Thanks TIM and teh CSC's for all the work leading up to the cleanup. BOVADS and I went up top after the raffle, played in the snow, got stuck and came back by the pile about 8:30 and everyone was gone and it was plenty dark. the sherrif buggy is owned by a local fab shop owner/operator who is a volunteer member of the sherrifs posse. helps to know the right people. :bigok: Thanks again Tim and all who contributed. |

The buggy is from a guy we call "Hunter" www.hunteroffroad.com He built it and the Sheriff sponsors it. Very good guy and he had several Sheriff buddies show up. We had an sheriff expedition, tomcar, and buggy driving around. It really helped to have them when asking some of the shooters to leave the areas we were cleaning. It was also nice when some of the volunteers found a revolver to make sure it was handled properly. I went up there myself to shoot for the first time last weekend. SADLY, the pile of burnt out trash is still there. I've left a message for the FS about that one... If its still there by this weekend. I'm headed up to start filling bags until its gone. I went on the Sycamore side of the highway. Its bad too. We took a couple of trash bags full when we left... not that it was noticeable, but every little bit helps.:grouphug: |
At least it is all in one place (the trash).
It is unreal that people went up there and burned the pile, but what should I expect if the place was that trashed to begin with. I submitted a brief write up and a few pics to my work newsletter. First step in maybe getting a little more help..... Tim I'll send you a copy when I get it. Let me know if you are going back up there. I may have some free time this weekend. |
thats a really nice Tundra (grey) in the first pic!
how much lift has it got? -B |
