As always, I'm so jealous of the wheeling out there.

Lots of minor stuff that I'd like to get done. I have a couple torn CV boots, apparently my idler arm is loose and needs to be replaced, need to finish my rock sliders, and somehow find the money for a body lift and new tires for the winter. I know theres more, the list is never-ending.

VERY nice stuff, gentlemen. Ric, you found my favorite fall sunset spot on that first shot. Not a bad spot mile marker 11 is, huh? I was out all last week on the gold rush and am glad you folks got to see quite a bit of it as well.

why not? I think his camera is like 8 megapixel, which is way better than most of them, and it takes very clear, sharp pictures, and they are always focused perfectly...i love the camera, wish i could afford one...the camera has everything to do with it

The camera helps, but isn't everything. Brain or One, do either of you have artistic experience? The photos are so good its hard for me to believe your the point and shoot types.

I have a little artistic background, but am still a rookie when it comes to taking pictures. I'm still working on the basics like composition.

Let's just say that when you take 600 pictures, 5 or 6 are bound to come out ok

to use a 4wheeing analogy... that's like saying to someone after they expertly drive up some obstacle "I'm jealouse of your truck" and "It's all about the truck" etc. like the driver has nothing to do with it. I'm sure you'd agree theres more to it than just the truck - the driver really makes all the difference. Same with a camera in my opinion.

Sorry to hyjack the thread.

no the camera has little to do with it... its what is behind the camera.

Crux, I do the same thing with film, I am getting better but 2 shots out of 12 are great and that is about my average. When I move to a new camera I get 1-2 out of 36 because of learning curve.

I'm not talking about Crux's ability, he is great in my opinion, i was merely complimenting him on his camera...i like it...it takes nice pictures...sure crux could take great pictures with any camera, but his camera is really nice...it is like some one in a truck...for example, remember Moody Hill crystal mtn run, Adrian did the ledges expertly...he is an expert, and no one could have driven it better...but he still couldn't have gotten my truck up there, it just doesn't have the capability...i compliment people who have spent alot of time and money on their trucks, the way i compliment people who have great camera's...of course brian is a great photographer, he wouldn't have purchased such a nice camera other wise...

As the world turns . . .

Given film-like post-processing treatment on a raw digital image, or just displaying an original in-camera JPEG with some sharpening, it would be absolutely impossible to distinguish what type of camera took a picture on the internet, whether it be a 1 MP P&S, 17.2 MP DSLR, 35mm, or large format film camera. Case in point being Ric's nice pictures he's been posting lately. No one would know he is using only a 2 MP camera unless he told you. Unless you've seen some of these folks' prints in person (8x10 or larger), your compliments on their cameras are unfounded and should to be redirected only towards the picture takers themselves. Who cares what a camera looks like. They are only dumb tools used to record a given scene. Give someone a 1Ds Mark II that knows nothing about taking pictures, you won't automatically get a good image, let alone stellar. It always has been and always will be crap in and crap out. Cameras don't take nice pictures; people take nice pictures.

That was a long road to a short thought....
