Colorado 4Runner Jamboree 2010!
Another awesome Colorado 4Runner Jamboree in the books! Big thanks to everyone that attended, always fun to meet new people to wheel with and catch up with the others that have been wheeling the CO4RJ over the years.
I believe we had 24 rigs start Holy Cross. We did have some minor breakage, it's always to be expected with a group that big. I've never seen a group this big run Holy Cross before. We started @ 10am and were off @ 6. There was also a group of 4 Jeepers behind us (that waited for us all day and never once gave us a hard time about being a huge group). We got 20 of those rigs over the creek in 3 hours. Not bad. Holy Cross pics http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/001.JPG Even a Jeep or 2 ran with us :D http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/002.JPG At the exit waiting for the group to go by. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/003.JPG Sami buggy on Rockwells (F&R steer) and 49's :yikes: http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/004.JPG Another big buggy on Rock's and 49's with Brian E's FToy looking like a go-cart  http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/005.JPG Ledge right before French Creek. Left side was muddy and not many of us made the left line. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/006.JPG Dcastell in the creek with CGuava on the right line. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/007.JPG Dcastell on the right line http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/008.JPG Dean in the only IFS rig to make it over the creek. He had a killer line over the creek and got stuck at the very end. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/009.JPG Jeremiah getting ready to lift the driver's side front tire on the hard right line. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...-Cross/010.JPG Cleveland was a muddy mess. We were 2 for 4 getting rigs to the top. CGuava & Brian E made it. The Sami buggy & myself didn't. |
BV Carnage lives up to it's name
We start the day @ 10am on Saturday. There was a couple other rigs waiting at the base of Carnage to jump into a group to run it. We let them tag along. We started with 8. One Jeep bailed after the gatekeeper boulders. We made killer time, getting to the exit @ 2pm. We picked up another rig at the dome rock so we were back up to 8. Russell broke his 2nd CV U-joint for the trip and borrowed my front square shaft to get him out of the exit. We had the old guy in the newly bought buggy roll after his winch line was cut on his angle iron fairlead trying the far left line (13-15 foot straight vertical ledge). He ended up with a concussion and a big knot on his head. He was able to fix the hole in his LS1's plastic intake manifold and get some fluid in the radiator. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/001.JPG YJ on 37's / Sami buggy on 49's / Toyota buggy on 42's / 4Runner on 39.5's http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/002.JPG 3 wheeling the gatekeeper http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/003.JPG Boulder field right before the V-notch http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/004.JPG Custom body work on the passenger side. I took the harder left line around that big rock and it won. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/005.JPG V-notch. First time in 3 years I haven't gotten out on my own. Rear passenger tire slipped in the notch and it was over. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/006.JPG http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/007.JPG Winching out http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/008.JPG Brian E and Dcastell http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/009.JPG This trail doesn't ever left up once to get to the boulder field before the V-notch. It's non-stop big boulders. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/010.JPG Justin climbing the right line on Squeeze Rock. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/011.JPG Dcastell showing off the wheelstand http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/012.JPG That's a big wheelside on 47" tires http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/013.JPG The exit. Nastier than ever. We had 4 climb out without a winch. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/014.JPG Halfway up the exit. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/015.JPG Taking the left line was really the only option. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/016.JPG http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/017.JPG http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/018.JPG As far as I could make it. http://www.volcom.rockfrogs.org/CO4R...arnage/019.JPG Out comes the winch I got way more video then I did pictures. I'll post the video when I get it done. |

As usual it was a great time! I got to hang out with a lot of old, and now new friends! I would also like to thank Aaron, I know he spent a lot of time getting the word out about the event. :)
