Cleghorn ridge trail report!!!

i hit this trail solo with my bro riding passenger. fun drive especially once i hit the 4500 foot mark because it was snowy up top. climbing those hills with the mud and slush was not an easy task. this trail rates easy but i say that the trail required alot of skill and pacience to climb. alot of close calls and sliping accured. all in all it was clear out and the views were great. ill be heading back up there in a week or so. it was merely impossible to take the more difficult trails due to the snow and being that i dont have lockers yet.anyways i recomend the trail this time of year bring on a new chalenge with high cautions like that. pilot rock was closed. too bad i wanted to hit that too. oh and i took twice as long climbing the trail because i kept stoping to pick up othe people's trash along the way. i got about 2-3 trash bags full of beer bottles and other crap along the trail. i would love for this trail to remain open so please if u go leave nothing behind take out what u took in. thanks so much guys enjoy these pics!!!

Nice! Thanks for the report and pics. Thanks too for picking up the trash!! All our efforts to perserve the open areas we have access to are well worth it. I keep trashbags in my truck to do the same thing. I spent an hour at a campsite recently filling two large garbage bags with everything from food wrappers to used diapers.

I've never been on Cleghorn with my truck ... . just the dirtbike. I'm surprised it wasn't more rutted up with the rains we've had recently. It looks like somebody's been busy maintaining the roads.

yeah those pictures dont show how bad it was because when i was going through the "rough stuff" i was afraid to stop and take pictures. i was too busy trying to get through the mud and ruts. but there has been pretty recent work done. the trail had man made ditches that had some cheap drainage work done on them to funel the water off the road. but believe me one u get about 6 miles in to the trail it started to really kick ass. really rutted and muddy at the top. but again i dont have pictures of the bad parts of the trail due to constant focus on the trail ahead of me. it was narrow and slippery with that icy slush at the top. i had more than one close call. i hardly got out of 1-2 low 4 gear one i hit the 4800 foot mark. the first 6 miles i ran in 2 wheel. and that last 4-5 miles as well in 2 wheel

why is it that nation wide, power lines always seem to have some of the best trails under them?

i have no idea just the old maintainance roads for the power lines. over time nature causes ruts and ruts are fun offroad obstacles. makes a good trail!!!
