AxleIke 12-16-2006 09:23 PM

Ric, no "carnage" pics?

did jon make it home okay?

That death wobble was pretty bad.

Jon, were you able to get it fixed?

Great wheeling with you all, was a ton of fun, always is.

Ric 12-16-2006 09:36 PM

Issac,
wasnt sure sure about posting them, wanted your ok fist, well since ya said something about it will, lol.
yes, Jon made it ok, we stoped and had the front tires re balanced, but it did still wobble abit, he thinks its the steering stabilizer, so he is going to take of it tomorrow.

getitdone 12-16-2006 09:42 PM

Wish I was there. At home with the flu instead. Sounded like a good maiden voyage for the new axle.

Ric 12-16-2006 09:43 PM

heres Issac gettin a little to close:

rocket 12-16-2006 10:27 PM

Nice pics Ric.

Troy, every time i see your rig it has changed some. Who did all that rear/side tube work and front bumper? It's lookin' good.

AxleIke 12-16-2006 10:47 PM

Rocket, when are you coming out to wheel with us again? I haven't seen you in ages.

My ding was a result of poor driving, poor tire placement, and ignoring the effect of ice on traction...i was looking into durabak for a paint choice before, now i just have a bit more incentive.

Glad that jon made it home. I was worried about that, with all the city driving he had ahead of him. Glad that Troy was there, his advice seemed to work well.

Here's a closer shot of the damage, as well as my beat passenger slider.

yeah that trail was a blast. thanks to tc i was able to make it trough those to sections. and that solid axle gave me more confidence for sure. the only carnage i had was were i bobbed the bed like 3 inches of weld broke and some scatching on the rear fender. but hey IT'S TO GO NOT FOR SHOW!!!! and thanks to chris (getitdone) with out him i could not of done it. and it was nice wheeling with all of you cant wait to do it again.

Lysmachia 12-17-2006 06:56 AM

Shaweet guys, look like you had a great time. I really wish I had been there... but the funeral was fine. So the solid axle has death wobble huh? Go figure... that is so classic. (Mine still has death wobble too) So did you guys do those other trails after running carnage?

Alperovich 12-17-2006 07:37 AM

sweet! looks like it was fun!

tc 12-17-2006 10:53 AM

Rocket - AllPhase in Longmont did both. The "exo" ties the bumper and sliders together and does a FANTASTIC job of proteecting the rear (expensive) glass. The front bumper is airtight and has fittings to use as an airtank. It is done for a long time. Next mod will be a crawler.

Jon - a steering stabilizer is just a bandaid on the real problem. Be sure to get the alignment checked with particular attention to the caster angle. I would recommend taking it to a TRUE alignment shop - somewhere that alignment is primarily what they do - not a tire place that happens to have an alignment rack.
