Bald Mountain - Shaver Lake, CA
Finally got all the maintenance done on my "new" runner and took her up to Bald Mountain this past weekend. There was too much snow for me to try to get to the real trail, especially going it alone...but we had a lot of fun messing around in the area. The weather was beautiful and the truck did really well.

If anyone in the area wants to go, hit me up! |

since you where just up there. it looks pretty good. im sure still alot of snow at the trail head but my goal is to make it to the watch tower. i think im just gonna wait till july3 but this sunday is a big maybe since i got some mods i wanna install before than |
I didn't even make it to the trail head...I was too sceerd all by myself. There were some built rigs comin down the mountain and they said they "couldn't" run the trail. I'm sure if you had the balls and a buddy you could have made it pretty far though. At least one good thing comes outta this crazy heat...snow melt!
|
but i love snow wheeling. i can make it to the trail head easy every time i have gone. a few tough spots but i have my shovel if i ever get in a tight spot. so far i have been lucky till i got off the road into random areas lol
well you got to snow me where that big rock you went to cuz i dont think i have seen that area before or maybe because everytime i been. there have been snow everywhere lol |
hey toyotech, do they have fireworks on Sunday night and Monday night up there? Do you plan to spend the night Sunday the 3rd? If you are going for sure let me know cause i will go!
|
rhill, those are some nice pics of the mountains. I haven't been up there camping since the early 90's. Typically we camped at Huntington lake. Makes me want to take my rig up there and wheel with you guys this summer.
|
Sounds like we should put a trip together :grouphug:
There are tons of spots to camp, or Dinkey Creek is a nice developed site. In a couple weeks the snow should be gone hopefully...then we should hit up Bald. I haven't been to Huntington much, only to ski China Peak. Dunno of any trails up there. |

Looks beautiful up there, thanks for the pics. I love seeing your stock-looking runner with all those truggies :guitar: We'll have to put a run together in the next couple of weeks. How was the view from the lookout?
|
looks like fun and nice pictures. who was driving the blue runner?
|
im still surprised i was able to go on the same trail that every sa or sas went on lol
i think i was the only one with IFS haha and i didnt take the easy way up 1st time up there and the view is awesome. you can see all the lights of fresno at night to the left. alot of places to play around in to. where i took that picture of the truck on the rock was right before the watch tower and i wanna go back and play around some more the blue runner was a 58 year old man with his girlfriend and another lady. very nice people and he showed me the way back down. i wouldnt have made it on my own lol. i over heard some other guys and he got the truck mostly built like that already for $4000. came with one 4.7 t case set up and the sas. he added the 1 inch body spacer, dual case, 37 inch MTR and thats all i know about it. on the way down at night i did max out my inclinometer 30+ to one side and 30+ dipped all the way forward according to the GF |
