AZ - Pyeatt Draw
Last weekend Ben and I decided to make a trip up to the higher elevations to escape the heat and do alittle 4wheeling.
We hit the Pyeatt Draw trail just below the Mogollon Rim that is maintained by the Rim Country 4wheelers. Several adopt a trail signs are scattered along the trail. The trail follows the wash the entire distance, with obstacles for just about any vehicle from stock to rock buggy's. A few drive shaft scapes and some turn signal mounts were snapped off - they needed to go anyway. All in all it was a great day. Fun trail, reminds me of being in Moab or even Sedona with the red rock, and great traction the rock provides. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw0.jpg Near the beginning... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw1.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw2.jpg One of the many ledges the trail has to offer, and the first one to take out my drivers turn signal... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw3.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw4.jpg The last waterfall...I had to think about this one for a good while. It was intimidating looking. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw7.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw8.jpg Ben was up next and we got him winched up safely. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...Draw/Draw9.jpg |
Nice Westy... cleaning that waterfall with no winch line took some confidence I am sure.
Interesting how the water hole to the right is all dried up. Must not be having much weather up there lately. Major difference: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...aterfall-1.jpg I guess the creek bed past the waterfall is also dry? Look how wet it was at the top last year: http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f15/Elvota/Creek.jpg Nice to see Ben getting his 1st Gen Back out on the trails. That is a fun trail I'd like to try again. :great: |
Nice trail and some good wheeling.:great:

Wow, big difference without all that water. The entire trail was dry, except for one pool a good distance up from the big waterfall. I bet with water down in that pool it would make the intimidation factor even bigger.
Yeah, it took some confidence. I pulled up to the fall and put the front tires up on it and contemplated for 10 minutes easy, deciding if I should hook up the winch just in case. Ended up just driving it. The tires are really breaking in now, especially the sidewalls. They were wrapping around those ledges. Come winter time hopefully Ben and his 4runner will be out running the trails. |
Looks like a good time Brian, I didn't think that pool by the waterfall would ever dry up. Seriously diminishes the pucker factor.
Will be up there the week of the 4th of July. |
looks like fun and alos you have some nice lookin trucks

Thanks. I am looking forward to getting back up there and running the upper section now.
