3.0 running rough and rich

Hi everyone I'm a new member and a recent Toyota convert. Sold my Chevy pickup and suv and now own a 94 previa 94 Camry wagon and 91 v6 4x4 pickup. I bought the pickup a few months ago the engine ran a little rough and the exhaust smell like surfer. It settles down to only 1200 rpm when worm and is hard to start off in first without stalling or bucking it will stall if rpm dips below 800 rpm. It also has a lag in pickup.
Things I've tried are cold start injector checked and not leaking.changed plugs wires cap and rotor. checked for vacuum leaks found a couple fixed them it made it run a little better but still not right. Finally brought it to a Toyota mechanic he changed out the temp sensor. That I thought was a good try but it didn't work. Sorry forgot to mention it came with a k&m filter on it and the mechanic suggested that i find an original and put it back on and see if that helps haven't done that yet but I will. Hope I didn't forget any details. This forum has helped me a great deal and I'd like to thank everyone for that and for any help with this challenge.

Is your c.e.l. on? Have u checked timing? Tested t.p.s. & v.a.f.m.? There are a lot of things that can cause this, the couple I listed above is where I'd start, always start bt checking for codes... If there are no codes, then u need to start testing sensors to make sure they are in spec. Another thing I'd look at is the egr valve, if its stuck open, it will cause the symptoms you described...

No cel and timing is checked and at 10. I'll check the The egr next let you know how I made out thanks for the help.
