i mounted mine up high too, out of the mud and water.

if you pull the viser clip out you can screw it right to the roof there. i don't have any sunvisors cause of my internal cage though.

the question is where to mount the whip. mine is on the bumper out back

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the 84-88 pickups don't have a deep enough ashtray to accomodate a CB. If you guys have pics showing otherwise, please post them up. I really like the ashtray mount, so would be excited to see if I could easily make it work

I was thinking of doing something like this with mine but was not real sure how to mount it with out destroying the headliner. I suppose I could make some sort of bracket to go from the visor holes...

i tried to put my cobra in the tray slot but the unit was too deep, it stuck way out of the dash and looked cheesy plus up high is easy access anyways.

I put mine in front of the driver side speaker. Out of the way and leaves the tray below the radio open for stashin stuff and the ashtray in place for....loose change of course!

Nope, I'm 6'2" and the loop of the mic cord just touches the top of my knee when driving.

thanks for all the input guys. i desided to mount it on the back of the center consul.... i would put it in the ash tray but i would have to do some trimming to slip it in there and i dont think it would even be deep enough. ill take a pic of it when i finish it. hopefully tomarrow....

^ My Ham Radio Install

What I'm probably going to end up doing for a CB radio if I can't properly hack my Yaesu to transmit on the CB Freqs is go with this for a CB:

It'll mount the small box in the glove compartment and the handset will fold and sit nicely in the popout tray under the heating controls.

Interesting spot to mount it. Never thought of mounting one there. Does it feel awkward reaching for it, since you kinda have to reach behind?
