No Transmit Response - SWR Tested on New CB

I had a problem with the antenna mount. It was painted so it did not ground. I removed the paint at the bolt/washer contact and now I have SWR readings that are satisfactory. 1 at Channel 1, 2 at Channel 40. (I know, I know...shorten the antenna.) But the readings are safe for now. I cannot get a response on my transmits. Mike/Transmit gain is turned up. Bearcat 880 Uniden. Finally the question. Is it still possible to have a ground problem if my SWR meter functions perfectly when installed and tested?

Probably not. Chances are that you just aren't reaching out there. I'd get a buddy to help you out from his rig, or you can always try the local truck stop on ch 19. SWR of 2 isn't the best, but isn't the worst either. Not a radio killer.
