Help with mounting door speakers!
Hey guys this is my first post! I have a 88 toyota pickup and i love it! but the stock sound system kinda sucks so i went out and bought a complete sound system for the truck, the stock speaker location is for tiny little 4'' speakers so my plan is to install my aftermarket speakers in the door, has anyone else done this with their 88? where should i cut so it doesn't interfere with the window.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I am assuming you do not have vent windows, so the best solution is to get low profile speakers and/or spacers. If you already have speakers, then you will need spacers. You can buy them, or cut them yourself out of MDF. Cutting them at an angle helps clear the window and points the speakers toward your ears. Typically speakers are mounted below the window crank, but you can pull the door panel and see where they will fit.
Another solution that works well is to get some quality 4 inch speakers for the dash, and then put some 6x9s or 6.5" speakers in boxes behind the seat. This way you do not have to cut the dash, and it will give you louder and cleaner bass if done properly. Your leg will also be less likely to block the treble coming from a low mounted door speaker, which is a problem I have had before.
