i am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone knows if the newer 4runner (2000-2005) are compatible with the older factory setups such as the 93-95 runners. please help ot thanks.

nope, the plugs are totally different. I suppose if you wanted to custom mount it, took the plug from the newer 00+ and spliced it into yours you could...

MUCH better off getting a new radio. Nowadays it is so easy to use adapter plugs and mounting kits to install a non-factory radio.

Get an Alpine head unit for around 150-200.... then get a $20 wiring harness (plugs into factory plugs and just splice wires together)..... took me about 45 minutes to replace it for the 1st time.... maybe 20 min for wiring

Actually I don't believe that is the case. Reason being we have 3 toyota harnesses in totality. 2 are amplifier integration harnesses, the 3rd is your typical 1761... Meaning on a 00+ all ya gotta do is unplug the amp for the 2 standard toyota harnesses. Now I could be wrong about that, but Ill keep my eyes peeled for this on the next 00+ toyota that rolls in.


Im with the rest of the group, aftermarket deck >> stock deck! I have an alpine 9835, and its an awsome deck, im still going to be switching back to e-skips, err i mean eclpise! lol

this is incorrect. As long as you have the amp from the 2000 unit, you can use it no problem in the 93-95. Plug and play.

Fwiw, my uncle has a 2001 camry radio in his 83 supra. Toyota even sells the adapter harness to go from the 86-older plug to the 87+ plug
