Good shop in Austin

I'm getting tired of trying to diagnose why my 4runner is a dog between 2000-2500rpm. Where is a good shop I can take it to to have them run some diagnostics on everything (timing, leak down, fuel pressure, FPR, computer, etc) and then just have them go over everything with a fine tooth comb? Thank you.

Hey cashmonkey,

To be honest, the best place if you are stumped and dont trust most places would be to take your 4runner would be the dealer. Yes.. yes.. I said the Dealer(stealer)
And the reason why I say that is they would be able to tell you what is wrong and diagnose your issue more effectively as they work on Toyota's all day long. I live in the DFW area and when I or when my friends cant help me solve an issue im working on, I go to them as a last resort as I dont trust most of the private shops in my area. A diagnostic charge is about $60 but in some cases it is worth it.

Otherwise, I would Google for shops that only work on Asian imports and read the reviews.

I trust private shops more than I do dealerships. Dealerships are overpriced and only seem to want the money in my experience. I just don't usually take my vehicles to shops so I don't know of any good one's around. Figure the board would have some suggestions.

If you don't mind a little bit of a drive you might try New World Workshop in San Marcos. Larry is the only mechanic I've ever trusted on my truck and he has definite love for mechanic work that is rare to find these days in your average shop. Not sure if he can help with this specific problem but wouldn't hurt to ask.
