Talking Intake/battery swap plus custom snorkel

I'm going to start this thread and then leave ya'll hanging do to time constraints and part availability.

Here's a sneak peak at my new custom airbox. My AFM will bolt on to that and my filter will sit inside. The box will have a clear lid thats removable. On the opposite side of the AFM there's a bulkhead fitting that will allow for a hose connection into the fender. That will head to the rear of the fender and then there will be a custom metal tube with a snorkel out thru the wiper cowling on the passenger side. Theoretically, of course...

I wanna see this!!! Come on get move on it...

I plan on doing the battery swap someday soon and I need ideas on how to get an inline filter to the intake for the snorkel. I think it was Junkers that had a good idea $100.00 for the filter canister though. I'll have to look back and see what i can find.

Well, thats what I'm doing here, sorta. I made a fiberglass box which will house my conical Spectre filter. Basically a glorified splash guard. I was also thinking about doing the deckplate mod to this box to let more air in, but I'm not sure if theres room...

Ah cool! He's probably seen my rig around then! As long as he wasn't the one that pulled me over a couple months ago...

Ok, well, got some work done on the bulkhead fitting that will connect the snorkel tube today. However, I'm wondering if 3" tubing will be adequate enough to supply air to the box...?

Isn't the throttle body 2.5"? So 3" should be plenty big throwing air to the TB. A 3" pipe can flow over 40% more air then a 2.5" pipe. So even with the length of the snorkel plus a couple of turns, I am pretty sure the flow won't drop down below the flow of the TB.

I hope my math is right. pi times radius squared is area right? 3" is 7.06, 2.5" is 4.9. 7.06 divided by 4.9 is 1.44, or 44% larger. I do not know what that equates into flow, but a half an inch makes a big difference.

I usually do those equations with water in hose, sorry I don't have any snorkel expertise!!

Hmmmmm, I have no idea...lol! I haven't used real math in so long it hurts to think about it. I guess my whole original idea was to go with the bigger AFM(not so much TB, even though I do have a Big Bore from Downey...RIP) to help compensate for the extra tubing due to the snorkel which is still less tubing than if I left the airbox on the drivers side... I guess I'm worried about pressure differential inside the box as the vacuum is created to pull air in thru the snorkel. Hence, maybe I should try to squeeze a bigger(I don't think it'll fit anyways) hose in the fender to provide adequate air volume...or am I just reading into this WAY to much...
