The previous owner had the tire fall off when driving and it squashed the fender. I got it off the truck, and plan to hammer it back into shape, but I have no experience with this. Any tips?

Welcome. For the work involved it's probably better to get a new fender. You can get factory matched paint in spray cans to paint it. Is that even a factory color? I'm not sure. If you do end up trying to repair the fender Bondo or other body filler is supposed to be under a dime in thickness or it will crack. It will absorb water and so will primer so you have to cover it with paint ASAP. BTW you need new tires.

If this was a rare very expensive car I would say go to school for body work for a few years.

Since this is A Toyota order a new fender and be done then you can practice all you want with the smashed one .

I am still trying to get a vehicle with the body all the same color I would settle for two colors at least it would be better then four colors.

I looked at your past posts and you have an 89 Pickup. You should put that in your signature. According to Toyota Reference that is Garnet Pearl #3K3. The following link sells touch up paint. There are lots of videos on Youtube on body work. Some are wrong though.

If the truck has been repainted it's anyone's guess how accurate the color is. Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the informative post. Both times I've posted on this forum people always are quick to suggest getting a professional / replacing. I got this truck to learn and fiddle with, and also don't have heaps of money to throw at it. I suppose I should frame my original posts with these parameters. I'll let you know how my progress goes!

Yeah. My '89 4Runner (different body style) was cheap and it's a learning experience. I knocked out a couple of dents. I had never done it before. Some rust was repaired with fiberglass mat. It's been about three years and the repairs are in white primer. The rust hasn't come back and IMO it looks good. My son just got a new daily driver so maybe I'll finally get it painted. I will probably wait 'til spring though.
