I'd get a winch plate from BubBuilt.

no but for the money it is well worth it to use as a base, several companies use it as a platform to base their bumper off of it.

the advantage of using the T-G plate over the Budbuilt plate is that you don't have to come up with frame mounts.

Even though my 4runner is a 3rd gen I started with a TG winch mount. I had to build a mount for the mount then I built my bumper off that. I'm glad that I started with the TG mount. It saved me a ton of fabbing.

I am not sure if those will work, I think there is a difference in the inner hub ring or something with IFS and SA hubs....I just crawled outta bed so not awake yet.
Might wanna PM 'waskillywabbit' or check his posts, I think he recently said something about this...

The inside is different. Longfiled makes a hub gear that converts IFS hubs to SFA.

As far as designs, download Google "Sketchup." Here's one I drew up with it. Not perfect, and I haven't measured for mounting, but it's an idea.

Again, just providing an idea. Not even sure if the winch would fit... I've also talked to a couple fab shops around here and they seem to prefer 3/16 plate. 1/4 is pretty heavy.

to answer your fiberglass ? it will stand up to a pillow... the minute you hit it with something it will either snap, or get a giant gash, to take any sort of abuse it would need to be several inches thick... boats can be KOd by a stump in the water, the only thing they can really take a beating from is waves
