Great Shop in Phoenix Area, Dahn Auto (Solid Axle Swap) PICS!!

Hi there Guys and Gals! I wanted to do a write up of my experience with a shop in the valley that handled the SAS on my 1987 4Runner. The Shop is Dahn Auto and its a one man shop but he does GREAT work. The shop is co-located with his home and that really keeps costs down. The owner is Weston Dahn and the number is 480-786-0187

Like a lot of you I have wanted to SAS my rig ever since I got it but I just don't have the welding skills necessary. I know the community has quite a few guys that are more than willing to help for a case of beer but I just didn't have the time to go down that route.

I am always leery of taking my truck to the shop for any type of repair because I don't know if they will do it the way I want it done or have the attention to detail that I want. I can tell you this is not the case with Weston. Through the entire process he went the extra mile to make things look very clean. In fact his words were "your 4Runner is so nice I want to make this look like it came from the factory with a solid axle." Well when we were in Moab last weekend a group of Toyota guys thought I had just done a new set of axles and some gussets.....nuff said! The other thing I really appreciate is Weston knows Toyota better than most. He set up the front so I could avoid spacers but still have a wide stance....the IFS/land cruiser mod.

I got the 4Runner back on Monday last week and immediately drove to 4 Corners through Payson, hit Moab, Canyonlands and then off to Zion. Rounded the loop w a night in Vegas and came home through Kingman back to Phoneix. YES you read that I went on the loop immediately after leaving the shop. When I choose a shop I don't fool around, Weston does great work!

Blah Blah Blah you done care you just want pics right? well here you are.

All the IFS removed.....scary

Stacked dimes

Getting Close

The little things matter

First test

Flex your rear

OHHHH MANNNNN

Just a little flex in the wild

Moab flexing

Not sure it this is to show off the rig or the wife unit.

little more trail porn

Nice to have all 4 on the floor.

Good eye! The front hanger isn't 100% welded because the angle of the shackel was less than desirable. We wanted to see if the springs settled. In a few more miles we will re-check and adjust if necessary.
