Anyone around Phoenix done a 3.4 swap
So I'm considering swapping out the 22re for a 3.4 if the price is right. I just rebuilt my trust ol 22re about 2 years ago and it runs fine but when your other ride has 4.0 Toyota engine it feels like night and day.
So I've been reading and I know it is quite a bit of work. I want to know if anyone local is willing to help me if I need a hand, or just let me see their swap so I have something to go off and maybe even take me for a ride so I can feel & hear the difference.

Yup, I swapped the tired 3.0L for a 3.4L 2 years ago. Yes, it is a night and day difference! I'd be glad to show you what I've done and some of the research necessary for your swap according to what year donor engine you get. I'm in Tempe at Ray/Rural. PM me.

I have done 2 3.4 swaps now, one on a pickup and the my current vehicle is a 4runner. That also including a auto to manual swap. The truck ran great when I got rid of it and the 4runner is my daily driver now. Im in Queen Creek.

Do a couple searches. There are quite a few write ups in the swap section here. You'll need the 3.4 engine harness, ecu, some custom wiring, custom exhaust, etc. The 3.0 engine mounts bolt right on with some minor modifications. I used the 3.0 ac compressor with the 3.4 ac clutch

To be honest, it all depends on how much you get the motor for. I got mine for 800, all in all I had the swap done for about 1200. Most of the parts for the 3.0 will swap over. Also depends on if you do it yourself. I did all wiring and work, including exhaust, myself for 1200 with the motor included. Its more work if your swapping auto to manual (as I did in my second swap). Definitely worth it though. Let me know if you have any quesfions. Sorry if the grammar is bad, writing this from my phone.

Well my 3.0 finally took its last run. Does anyone know of a donor motor out there? Or someone with a shop that can get this done in a weekend....either the swap or just a replacement?

I got ahold of a 3.0 from a motorsports shop in tempe called Akina motorsports. In the process of updating the engine bay with all new parts, then ill install the motor within a week or two

My friend Weston does them at his shop in Chandler:

he has talked me into letting him put a 1-JZ in my 4runner though

Old thread, but anyone still out there doing 3.4 swaps locally? I have a 91 Pickup with the 3.0, automatic.
I was planning to have ToyOnlySwaps do it since no one local seems to have the expertise, but I just found out the main guy's injured himself, so that idea's out. I don't really know any other shops that still do the work, most just sell parts.
