Drive in Movie

Hey all, I usually hit the drive ins several times during the summer, though it could be a potential combination meeting idea. If we get there a bit early we can commandier a section, maybe review highly important offical top secret club stuff before the show. It occurs to me that this would be something for significant others to attend as well.

The place I usually go to is at the west end of 66, about 1 hr away from DC. This is a bit more central in VA too. If there is enough interest we can plan this up to 2 weeks in advance to make sure the movies for that weekend don't suck. There's a small undeveloped campground nearby, and one resort campground too if anyone wants to make it an overnighter.

If anybody is interested post here with comments...

It's been years since I've been to a drive in movie. I'm up for it and I bet I can get the wife to go to.

We're up for it. I think we have a weekend or two free in July (next weekend is definately out, the weekend after might be free, but I can't remember. My wife likes drive-ins, but I've never been to one.

July 11th?

Hey all, just to keep things moving, how about we schedule the drive in for the night of July 11th. Plenty of notice. I don't know what movie will be playing yet, so if everybody wants to just check their calendars for now, then we can make pre-educated RSVP's as soon as the movie titles are posted. Remember camping afterward is likely, and we don't HAVE to stay through the second movie. Everyone can customize this trip to their liking. If we park together I can share the bass from my removable speaker boxes, the theater has the old fashioned post-mounted speaker but the FM broadcast is better.

I'm going to drop off the radar until wednesday. Post your thoughts VA4ROC....

I'm free too, let's call it Friday the 18th. My GF heather and I will be leaving from manassass at 7ish so we will meet people out there. The currently unknown movie starts at dusk (8:45?) and the gates open at 8 so if we want to park in a group we should show up early and/or carpool. You can BYOB but we usually try to buy some munchies from the concession stand. Heather and I will be camping that night about 5 miles away, if anybody else is interested we might reserve some spots.

From what they have on the site, the movies will be 2 sets of 2 of the following, some good choices...

2 Fast 2 Furious (PG-13)
Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd (PG-13)
Hollywood Homicide (PG-13)
The Matrix: Reloaded (R)
Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines (R)
The Hulk (PG-13)

Glad it's being switched to July 18, I don't think that will be a problem. I found out my wife has to work late on July 11 and won't make it that night. We won't be able to camp overnight since my wife works the next morning.

The 18th should work for us. I'll have to confirm it tonite. We won't be camping either for obvious reasons.

Talking Is Finding Nemo still playing !?!

LOL.

actually...I bet that would be a blast to see at a drive-in.

I don't remember when the last drive-in was that I went to....but I surely do remember the first....1976...Star Wars.

Giddyup!

Of course...they weren't broadcasting the soundtrack via FM .... so...ya kinda missed out on the tracking of the X-Wing Fighters via the mono window speaker. LOL!

I'd definitely love to attend...basically...i'm game for anything. Sue is a different story...being that she's 23 weeks pregnant. But I'll chat with her and let you guys know what our situation is.

Peace,

Sean

Tell her she won't be the only pregnant woman there. My wife is 7 1/2 months. We won't be camping out, but we plan to go for the movie.

We will have the choice of 2 Fast/Furious and The Italian Job, or another pair not yet posted on the site. Looks like we have four couples coming to the drive in, you kids be careful or you might get pregnant. Actually I think we are the only couple that's NOT pregnant.

Exclamation

Heather and I will be there, we will be at a company picnic just before, but have tested the speakers, and would be happy to share the bass.

Are we going to meet somewhere and drive out together or meet at the drive-in?

Since I'll be out near there for a company picnic, won't be able to meet before, will meet you guys at the DI, how's 8PM sound? That when the Box office opens, but we may even want to get there earlier for good seats/parking.
We should probably decide what set of movies we'll see too, have to pick before you drive in since they are at different ends of the lot. Well ya know, I'm a contributing member so I get to post polls, will do this one...

For those of us that will be taking I66 to I81, why don't we meet in Manassas somewhere.

We could meet at the Cracker Barrel restaurant, in the parking lot near the front door. It would be easy to get back onto Westbound 66.
