Some guys over on the VA TTORA Board have reported that sections of the Kephart trail are now closed:

"the forest service bulldozed two 8 foot mounds of earth, knocked down trees, and moved boulders in front where you enter the spur and waterfall on Kephart. These parts of the trail are now closed. I don't know the reason, but it sucks. If you do go up there though please do not try to get over these mounds because that will lead to more closures and you'll get your ass stuck."

I did Kephart on Saturday, August 21 and it was still open. I would have posted, but it was a last minute run down there with my club. The rain didn't make it easy on the slick rocks at the turn around point:

We've have a meeting on Sept. 19 to discuss upcoming rides, including a Fall Folliage Run. I'll post future trail runs.

That sucks, I was looking forward to getting into some trail runs out here. Let me know about a fall colors run.

The Fall Color club run tries to hit trails that a stock 4x4 can handle. This is to encourage more folks to attend. This GWNF run is nice, I'm going to ask if this area would be considered for this year's ride:

We mainly hit the Madison County (VA) area in past years.

Well...since I havent even been able to take my 4runner off road yet, and my fiancee and I are always planning on hitting a trail or 2, a fall colors ride would be sweet! Just hope it isnt from Oct 6-20th....I will be busy getting married and on my honeymoon!
