Sounds like its just time to your runner a bit of TLC. I'd work one thing at a time. Its probably ready for new plugs and wires, getting the rotors turned, etc.

I dont know about 3rd gen Runners but for other car makers they set the service's at 30,000. Every 30 being 30,60,90,120 you should do as your manual says. Its a pretty penny to have the stealer do so do it yourself and save a chunk. Its easy! Save it for "Mod Day" and get some help.

Ray, The shaking is not likely your alignment. The alignment would be needed if your getting a pulling sensation or tire wear issue. The shaking is your wheel balance or something is loose.

It might, if it isn't your steering rack going bad.

if they're shaking then they didn't balance them correctly. and that can throw off your allignment. or maybe the wheight just fell off the wheel. check you front tires for the little wheights, both the outside and the inside (inside meaning the side facing under the car) if there aren't any wheights deffinetly take it back to where ever you got it done. this happened to me at costco when they fixed my flat. it pissed me off cause there were no wheights on it at all. the guy tried to tell me that sometimes tires don't need wheights and also said that sometimes they put them on the inside. i told him that i looked on the inside and they're weren't any i felt like he was insulting my intelegence. then when i got it back there were 2 yes 2 huge wheights on it. it messed up my allignment a little i haven't gotten it fixed. too busy. even though i had just gotten an allignment about a month before from les schwab. but the garantee was done since it was more than a month. :pat: um yeah. long story short check for the wheights if its shaking. and take it back and make them do the allignment for FREE!!!!

and i don't know about the engine vibration.

Umm.. no because my girlfriends car shakes in park and drive when the engine is at low rpm, her fuel guage would not go up until the car starts moving, it turns out that the alternator isnt charging..... wait... you know what? Maybe its not the alternator making the car shake..... sorry about that :pat: does anyone know why it shakes? Thanks

maybe one of the plugs isn't firing? i remember after giving my little old mazda a tune up i got home from my dad's (where we did the tune up) and all of a sudden the car started shaking kinda like it had a flat tire or something. i was 2 blocks away from my house so i kept driving and i popped the hood and one of the spark plug wires was off. but im no engine expert, so really i have no clue, i just like talking.

what?

OK im gonna turn off my engine on freeway for a little bit to see if this problem presists, this would prove wether it's an engine problem or not. it really feels more like my wheels are not balanced or something that holds the wheel is bent. I really hope it's not a steering rack problem

NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!

When you do that, you've going to lose your power steering and power brakes.

At 60+ mph, that could be a REAL bad idea.

*** DISCLAIMER ***

I'm not responsible if you try this. I'm only bringing it up as a SAFER idea versus shutting off the engine at highwy speeds.

If you really want to check if the vibration is coming from the engine, then find an EMPTY stretch of highway, get into the right lane so safety, put the tranny in neutral and let the engine idle.

That will let you keep your power steering/brakes, but will reduce the engine speed such that the vibration should at lest "change" if the engine is causing it.
