CA4ROC one more time...

Folks,

I've been getting some interest in the ca4roc thing again. I'm fairly sure people's goals are pretty simple, and read like this:

a) I want a sticker
b) I want to find people to break my truck with
c) I want to find places to break my truck

If those are the goals, then I think we've got a real good chance!

YT meets most of the 'b' and 'c' needs, but i think it'd be cool to have an area where we could see a map of california with everyone (roughly) plotted out, and then maybe a picture of your vehicle, yourself (if interested), and other stuff like a "hardcore" rating so the pyscho's know who they can wheel with, and I can find other wimps to keep me company.

I'd say open to anyone who's interested, 4runner/taco/whatever, since the objective is to hook up with other enthusiasts, even (*gasp*) folks from neighboring states that don't have enough oomph on their own...

no bylaws, no dues, only perks is a place to find each other, and a cool sticker for your rig. if you want more than that, by all means, volunteer!

I think I've got plenty of help lined up on the web site (if you volunteered a year ago, you're still on my list! ) Now we just need someone to design/produce the sticker. The other chapters can probably help us here.

I've gone through all my old email, PM's, and the relevant threads from the beginning of time, and assembled a list of everyone who has ever said they were interested.

The list looks something like (my apologies for the format...):

There are a few people on here that were either never on YT, or have since disappeared, or have been real quiet since I received their data.

Now I'm gonna go look at the other 4roc activity going on around the country, and see what other bright ideas we can shamelessly steal....

Yep! I guess I didn't mention that's the second half of the official "perk" list.

Scott, your da man

I can supply the pictures and video so far of past and future runs.

Also why dont we use the backcountry adventure books rating scale to rate trails, and also the level people want to do. i.e Rubicon is a 8, I will probably do up to 5 as it is my and my equipments limit, stock will do a 3-4, 1 is gravel road, 2 is a picnic if you have 4Runner, etc. I can capture this.

I can help create webpages, but we will need web master.

I'm in for sure!!!

A map would be a great idea!

We need to create a mailing list so we can send trail runs to these folks.

So what do we do next??

Ok guys we seem a bit slow, especially here in Nor Cali!!! Are we sleeping?? The SO Cali guys are wheeling like madmen and we seem to be WORKING on weekends Time to relax a bit as well

WHat's next? I want to get a couple of runs going in Aug and Sept in NOr Cal. I'm thinking lets hit the Sierras before it snows up in winter, then we can hiot the desert with the SO Cali guys. And obviously the day trip or two to Hollister or so, to break in new guys and play around.

Hey guys! Count me in. I'm a pretty busy guy but I need to get out more. I'm down for helping maintain a website. If we need space for hosting a site or images, I know a provider who charges $7.95/month for 800MB of space with a 40GB transfer limit, 400 email addresses, and 10 subdomains, and more. It comes with a free domain name if you sign up for a year. This is what I am using for my website which is in the process of being re-done at the moment.

sure ya can. the more the merrier.

unless anyone has any better ideas, I think we can just talk to Turboale to get in on his sticker orders, unless we want CA specific ones.

That might require some more sucking up. I'll go ask him...

I think a generic 4ROC sticker would be fine. People can tell what state you are from by your plates. Maybe we could design a vinyl-cut sticker with the website address to go underneath the generic 4ROC sticker sometime in the future....

I know our state is pretty spread out, but we definitely need to get a network here. Count me in for sure.

I think unique stickers could be cool, since Cali is such a unique state.
Maybe something that reflects our diverse climate (beach, desert, mountains, parking lots, and freeways)

Die cut stickers would be sweet.

I think we should have a mandatory run each month in Cali. It would be even better if we had 1 run each month per region.

It's nice to have big runs where we can all meet, but I think it would be nice to split the cali group up into sub groups, so smaller outings can be arranged more often. Just some thoughts.

Hey where can I find a description of the different trail ratings? I'd be curious to see where I'm comfortable. I fear body damage.

Never mind I found one: http://www.4x4trails.net/forums/memb...action=ratings

I think I would be comfortable as a 5 or 6, but on a crazy day I might try a 7.

I'd like to add my interest and involvement to the California branch.

Not sure I can be too involved presently but nevertheless........

Scott - you should have an email with my details. Did you get it?

For what its worth:

First name - Mark
Vehicle - 04 stock 4Runner
location - Agoura Hills, Ca.

Interesting note - I moved in here just a few weeks ago. In a residence of approx 40 cars, there are 5 4Runners 03 or newer and one rock crawling, lifted ute that I guess is a mid 90's. Don't know any of the owners yet but wonder if any of them are on this site.

Cheers
Mark

If only someone had already done that....

and then put it on their truck...

And then wheeled the piss out of it...

and then made a smartass post about it...
