Blown headgasket 3.0L
.... Managed to get it to a parking lot from the freeway, but it's toast. I'm looking into either a new 3.0l or possibly swap to a 3.4l. I'd love to do this, but don't have the skills. Anyone out there in Cali do a 3.4l swap on a 2nd gen?, I could use all the info I could get. Google search doesn't get me much info for Cali laws(it could be me, I'm terrible when it comes to the internet). Thanks!

Theres only one way to get the skills . Just do it. Im not sure but i think the 3.4 is more bolt in than any other swap. I had to fab a lot for my gm 4.3. You would need to buy a donor vehicle . Everything that relates to the motor must be same year. Your just transfering it from one truck to another. Lots of info if you search to forms . I live in the sacramento area and mine is smog legal . Motor must be same year or newer. And have all smog equipment that it came with. Im not sure how much it would cost to have someone else swap it , i would think it would be cheaper just to buy a newer better running truck .

Thanks for the info!. I was thinking about a newer 4runner, but my fiancé is too attached and wants to keep it long term. I'm gonna do the research and all the posts I can find about the 3.4 swap. I read somewhere it's easier to smog with a 96-98 3.4 than a 99-02, is this true?. Also, so far be seen tons of picture builds, but I've yet to see any video builds, does anyone know of one?
