Vallejo wheelin'
Yup, just ran through there on my way home from work. It's real sloppy this time of year. If you head down Columbus Pkwy. to Ascot and make a U-turn, then take the next turnoff on the right, it heads up a hill to a water tank with awsome views of the Bay.

Oh yeah, I drove by there Sunday and the place was hoppin'. Do you know any other places like that around Vallejo or Napa? I'm having some issues with my truck and I don't want to take it on any long trips until I can work on some things.

Someone should come up with a a name for that place instead of "the vacant lot behind Target in Vallejo". When I first went out there I thought I was trespassing, but then I saw the signs asking people to not ride near the houses, so it implies that it's ok to be out there. Are you in Sac, Napa, or Vallejo?

Hey y'all I'm about to be moving up to Sonoma from San Diego middle of next month. I'm used to being 45 minutes to an hour away from all kinds of great crawling- Corral Canyon, Truckhaven, Jamul Mtns, etc. and I'm worried about finding some real good trails up there. Anybody familiar with the good crawlin and willing to show me around?

I live in Santa Rosa. I used to live in Napa. Let me tell you, there's not many places for 4wheeling around here. Mostly I drive up to the mountains. There is a place called Knoxville recreation area up above Lake Pillsbury. It's just a bunch of BLM land. That's pretty close to Napa but it's not the best for 4wheeling. Better for dirt bikes/quads, but it does have some fire road type stuff. Hot and dry in the summer, muddy in the winter. It's been a long time since I've been there. There's also Cow Mountain just above Ukiah. It's pretty fun. Lot's of fire roads and minor challenging roads, also a 4x4 playground. For a stock 4runner though, you'd find plenty of fun stuff! A third option, but one I've never done, is a guy who has private land in the Solano county area I think. I think he calls it "Mix Challenge". He has a website with more info. I don't know the exact website but you can google it and find it I'm sure. If any of you ever want to go wheeling with our group, we're always happy to have new people along as long as you're down with a mellow-family friendly environment. You can check out our website - www.4x4him.org Click on the "forum" link at the top of the homepage. We've always got something coming up. There are local chapters all over the state. I go by Loosey on there too.
