I really don't want to do this twice if I do it wrong the first time.
They slide over the ifs wheel hub, but first you have to grind some material off to make the overall diameter small enough for the taco rotors to slide over. If you look at rattlewagon's post on the previous page (post#71 the third picture down) you can see the comparison, the hub on the left is stock and the hub on the right has been ground down. Hope this helps!

Thanks Ed. Figured it out. I'm gonna take the hubs to work on Tues and chuck them up in the lathe to turn them down. Got the rest of the axle assembled. Working on cleaning up the lockouts and giving them a fresh coat of paint as we speak.

With the Tacoma rotors does anyone know if I can use 4cyl calipers or do I have to use v6calipers?

Did you have to do any grinding to get them to fit into the rotor?

Yes the opening wasn't wide enough because the factory rotors aren't vented and the tacoma rotors are vented. Here's a pic showing where I needed to grind. I don't have a pic from after it was ground.

Heres my setup with IFS hubs and Calipers, 97 Tacoma rotors with that slip on after the hub is ground down a bit. Drilled out the break holes to a half inch. Bought some washers and with just a tad bit of grinding they aligned everything up perfectly.

You can either use your entire solid front axle lock out hubs, our you need to get the special conversion gear to make IFS hubs work on a Solid Axle. You have to grind down the gear a bit to make it work in the IFS hubs. I think you can still get the conversion gears through daves off road.
What are you shimming and with what? The rotor or the caliper?

the brake caliper needed to be shimmed from the hub ears this is so that it is more center with the rotor.

The mounting nut and bolts for the caliper, I felt safer mounting the bolt inside to out. The nut is on the outside instead of how "rattlewagon" has it pictured. This way if the nut comes off, at least your brake caliper will still be on, as it needs to be removed with the rotor at the same time. If that makes sense.

^ I like that. That nut is kinda a pita to get on there too. I think ill switch em around next time in in there! Thanks!

I shimmed it with hardened steel washers.

So all the other hardware associated with the hub is the same? I just need the IFS hub body?

I'm about to do it to an 88ifs for an 83 Solid Axle. I planned on making a YouTube video and linking back to this thread. I"m using fj rotors and IFS hub and caliper.

Well update later on

I just used washers, I dont have a measurement on how thick they were. Only needed one per bolt.

And your stock ifs pads worked perfect then I had to trim a little bit on the warning tabs but that was it

I used washers as well. IFS pads fit fine with no grinding though.
