RUF/Chevy 63s (85 4runner)
Finally finished with my RUF and chevy 63 swap. Went from a rancho 2 inch lift and 3 inch body lift to RUF and 63's with no body lift. Rides a whole lot better. Also got my 35s mounted. Just need some new shocks now. Here are the pics

I have stock chevys in the rear. I have a really long shackle though. Its 8 inches eye to eye. With a allpro 5 in the front youd need some blocks in the rear to level it out

been admiring you truck for a while now, so much so im doing my own chevy swap in the rear, so i have a few questions about your rear set up. mostly about shocks, which ones you used? how did you mount them, what kind of travel are you getting? right now i have 15" compressed and 25" outs, and im hoping i can still use them.

ok so im basically a newbie to toyotas, what does RUF stand for (most likely a dumb question dont bash tho) and also what springs do you use to do this swap, i bought an 85 yota that was "lifted" 3 inch body and 4 inch suspension and got to digging around to start fixing and replacing stuff and found that the "4 inch suspension" was some ghetto homemade add a leaf in front and rear with replacement shocks basically it made me look and feel like an idiot when me and my buddy found out, but what chevy leafs do you use and what vehicle are they originally from

check out pirate4x4.com and go to the toyota section..they got a "toyota bible" that has answers to EVERYTHING....but RUF means rears up front..you just basically put ur rear springs up front...not bolt on tho..you either have to move ur front spring hanger forward..or use different rear shackles..

ok so ive been reading alot on the RUF and the chevy rears. i completely understand the rear swap it sounds pretty simple how ever i am lost on the RUF post because well theres wayy to many opinions on stuff to do and spring packs and all and i dont think that it was as organized as the chevy rears post. anyways i have an 85 toyota pick up and want to know how to do the RUF. it seems like everything on the RUF on pirate is 4runner guys talking, Does all that translate to a pickup please explain i want to do this and that write up is confusing

RUF is a harded to do then the chevys, because you have steering and limits space to move mounts forward, most people will buy a lift kit for the front. but those are pricey and can ride like a poop. RUF is for the guy with a little bit of fabrication ability to get more flex and a little bit of lift for very little cash.
63 chevys has some options too. like scotty ( the guy who started this thread ) is running on a 2 pack, while i have a 3 pack in on my pickup. its all about opinion.
go grab some springs from the junkyard. spend day cleaning them up. and throw them under the truck. you dont like the way they ride, pull them back out switch up the packs throw them back in.
Happy fabbing!
