Hi guys,

82 4x4. I'm looking for a rear LSD. I do not off-road but do frequent hills in the rain. I also hit logging roads that can get muddy time to time.

I've whittled it down to either a True-Trac or the less aggressive version of Auburn's cone-clutch LSD. Anyone here have experience with these to say if one is better for 90/10 pavement/dirt than the other in terms of operation?

I know the difference between gears and clutches, just want practical advice from users on which could be better or if there are other options I'm unaware of.

Thanks!

I've heard that Auburn's unit is very good, and I've even considered it a few times myself, but I've yet to find someone running one on our generation of truck, which makes me nervous.
Tru-Trac is pretty much the gold standard for limited slip diff in small pickups. Personally, I'd lean in that direction as there's more support and information regarding them than other options. Plus Detroit is pretty much the leader in differential technology, they have years of experience in the field and make good hardware.
