alot of the trails we run on have low hanging branches. I was thinking about putting some limb risers, the cable that run from the bumper to the roof rack, to help lift them over my rack. , what do you all think.

Is there a down side to this mod? I mean other than the funny looking whips?

i dont think i would make them permanant, just loosen a turn buckle and take them off, does anyone have anyexperience with them? i know there were a few 4runners that had them in the past, but i couldnt seem to find any pics.

I saw a few pics around this time last year... haven't seen anything like it recently either.
Seems like a good idea, why not? Save your exterior some pinstriping.

I think removing them would be a PITA. If you want them, just throw them on and forget about them.

I had them and there should be a post here about it somewhere. Cost was $20 and it took 5 mins to take them on and off. REAL EASY. I left them on most of the time...look pretty sweet if you ask me:

thanks alot, hopefully it will help keep me from having to hold an arm out the window to keep branches out of my rack and lights. DO you have any close ups of how you mounted to the bumper and rack, the pics in the posts show as X's.

They help and they dont help. They definitely keep the braches out of my roof rack and the larger branches off the truck. Small ones however are impossible. Most branches that scrach the side of your truck are NOT long enough to glide over the top. They make it up a little ways...then drop downward. SO instead of left to right scratches...you get up and down ones .

For $20...I think it is worth it. Small branches leave small scratches that can be buffed out. But those big ones or dead tree limbs that gouge your paint...at least you have something to fight back with.
