Ford TTB axle swap on an 85 toyota pickup.

How hard would it be to build a crossmember to mount the brackets for the long arms and beams? Is it possible to set it up on this truck.

How about steering?

What are your plans for the transfer case since I am pretty sure rangers with TTB have a drivers side pumpkin

I've read about this being done, I think it was a four wheeler mag online article.
Might have been a 3.4 with drivers side drop tc.
You can pull some serious travel with that setup, no cv axle bind.

Ive seen jeep comanches i gues you bend .250 thick DOM to clear everything. An r150 out of a taco would work?

augh just wrote a post and lost connection so lost it.

I've seen TTB snap axle stubs easily.

Hate to see that to an SFA but to each their own.

Have you tried swapping shocks? You're still running stock front spring hangar still things you can do to front suspension. Buddy 3-linked his bronco front with a ruffstuff kit. Pretty cool set up, fun to watch it flex out and coils to boot.

Im only going to run 33x12.50s on a 15x8 for some crawling and going fast over whoops and little jumps. I would want limit straps 14 inch coilovers and air bumps. Its a hi pinion 44 also. I wont have to worry about breaking with just a 33.

Might wanna compare cost. Selling the SFA to get an IFS truck and going with a Blazeland long travel kit. I have no idea the fab that would take to convert to TTB.

I have already seen a dana 35 ttb in action going 80 mph with coils and a shock blazeland cant do that all blazeland is, is stock extended ifs. I can pick up a ttb for 150 bucks at my junkyard. Steering will have to be custom same with the frame mounts i will also plate the frame. I can make a ttb get 20 inches of travel with limit straps and coilovers all while retaining 4wd and a toyota driveline usin SORDs pinion flange that connects a 44 to a toyota driveline.

80 mph with a 22RE is getting close to top. Mine will get there on the highway but with flexy springs, lift, and no sway bars I think not for me.

Go for build. I'm a slow crawling trail guy so take my comments with a grain of salt..

A lot of the Jeepspeed guys go for a TTB setup, and wouldn't have it any other way. I'd recommend getting on NAXJA.org and looking at the Jeepspeed builds.
Those guys build custom TTB setups that are more long travel than even the stock ford stuff, and it's quite impressive. Also, if you have a gear-driven transfer case, you can make a clocking ring, custom vent setup, and linkage to flip the case and run it upside down if you're clever. (I've done it on a jeep cherokee to run a dana 300 case with driver drop axle)
I'm sure some of this engineering could be carried over to the go-fast side of the off-road toyota world.
I'd be willing to bet it's even been done, but personally I'd start with a version of a twin I-beam setup on a high horsepower (v8 swapped maybe, and low gears with a spooled rearend) 2wd truck for going fast in the bumpy stuff.
Search on Pirate4x4.com as well. Those guys have done a little bit of everything, but you might get flamed for screwing up a good rock crawler.

Well 80mph on my IFS runner is white knuckle territory, did it once, never again. My race car is more stable Trade it and get an IFS truck. Toyota's are choppy, no changing that.
