They got a new supply of cans in, so if you don't have yours yet, get them while they last!

How good of condition are they in? Has anyone bought ammo boxes from them and where they in decent condition?

i have a can like that, from what i was told, they are a european design. they use a different type of latch mechanism on the top and use a special drain sput because of this... it clamps on instead of screws on like the standard us type

If they have that euro design do they work better than the standard US jerry can?

they work the same, trasport gas... i like the design as the lid and spout clamp on.. you dont have to use any tools like the us type where you have to screw on the big nut top or the nut with the spout

I have 2 I ordered a while ago - they're awesome. Just clamp and tighten the lever and you're set.

Ammo cans... I don't buy ammo cans from them. Crossroads gun show comes out to the Del Mar convention center once every 3-4 months so I just check it out over there.

I just ordered up a couple. How can you go wrong at $10 each for the military's finest stuff.

OK, about this olive drab paint... Anything wrong with me painting them yellow? I know that's for diesel, but I'll put stickers on for unleaded fuel only..

I bought 4 figuring I'd need a pair for another rig some day. That price is just awesome.

The are USED! Black paint - faded - scratched and a little surface rust. They will really clean up nicely I'd say. I plan to sand them down and paint them anyhow.

Big thumbs up to cheaperthandirt.com. One of the cans I got had a dent in the top of it. Being a little particular, I whipped off an email to them to see if I could exchange one. They came back to me offering to send me one for free and they don't want the other one back. Now THATS customer service!!

Ordered 4 as well. 2 are nice, 2 are pretty beat up. Several dents and 1 has alot of rust.

I should see if I can get those 2 swaped out. I got a pour spout on eBay as well as some real live US Army surplus holders.

Total was $49 and change for all 4 shipped. The replacement one is coming completely free.

Steve, I think we got the same order. One was excellent, one was almost perfect but had a little rust, one had a little more rust and one had dents.

I'd email them - they'll make it right. They resolved my issue within about one hour from when I sent the first email.

BTW, in my email, I told them I was concerned about the dented one leaking over time and that I didn't have a way to fix the dent.

CTD now has brand new Israeli NATO cans for $15 each. This is a very good deal for a very high quality NATO jerry fuel can.

For those of you who have questions about jerry fuel cans, my Jerry Can Paper explains all, EM me if you have any questions.

I already purchased the Israeli cans, with a few slight modifications the Wedco Spout will fit. I like the desert tan finish and was thinking about getting a few more, then painting them blue, to hold water.

Probably not a good idea. There is no evidence that that the interior coating on these gas cans is food grade. For $5 more per can, you can get the US Military Water Can (MWC). Then there is no question that you will own the finest water can on the planet. Source is Brigade Quartermaster at actiongear.com And you can get them in the blue color to begin with.

Using any type gas can to store water is a bad move, IMO.

Enclosed please find my latest Water Storage Container FAQ. Belay that, attachments can't go over 48 KB. If you want a copy, IM me. Otherwise, it will be posted at the RCRC tech articles site in a few days: http://www.rocketcityrockcrawlers.com/tech_articles.htm

Questions? E-mail me.

Thanks,

Al

That's assuming the water will be for consumption...

The water will be used for everything but drinking, considering it'll be stored in there for quite a while.
