Amphibious Conversion Questions Thread

Hello all:

This is my questions/recommendations thread for my 1983 pickup, which I am in the process of converting to amphibious.

You can find the build-up thread here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f31/...us-rig-292947/

First off; How do I go about sealing an alternator? I want to run at least 170 amps through the system once I am finished, but for now; I need to find a way of sealing the alternator without it overheating.

Unless of course they have 170 amp induction systems, such as an induction generator, that has no brushes or moving contacts. If so, I could use one of those and build a power converter for DC to AC if I need, so the regulator can convert it right back.

An inductive alternator would be optimal, as it has no pieces to wear out aside from bearings. If this part is not available or does not exist, however, how do I go about sealing my alternator?

I already have the distributor taken care of, and will be sealing all connectors and the regulator with hydrophobic gel.

Thanks.
