Replacing just transfercase shift motor on 2005 Tundra

Hi ,

My transfercase motor crapped out on my 05 Tundra .After some researching on how to replace just the motor a lot of guys said it can't be done and you have to take apart transfercase motor .When the motor gave out my truck would not go Into any gear at all .I brought it to my mechanic and he simply removed the transfercase motor and manually put the truck in 2wd so I could drive it ,he says to put the new back on it's the same on reverse of course. It as a simple process to remove it as i watched hm do it . I now have a new transfercase motor and going to attempt to put it on myself .My question is why don't Toyota tell you that this can be done so easily ? Is it a big money grab for garages?
