2004 Sequoia / Tundra 2WD extension housing leak
The transmission extension housing on my 2004 Sequoia 2WD UCK35L GKSSKA has started leaking again. A new Extension Housing Oil Seal, aka output shaft seal, was installed 3 years ago, which stopped the leak.Since the seal replacement, the vehicle has seen under 20K miles.
1. A new seal is $10, but the Toy seal puller is $450. The seal is deep inside the dust cap. How can I get the seal out without the Toy tool?
2. TSB TC007-06 says a "small transmission fluid leak" may occur "through the driveshaft slip yoke hole plug in the center of the yoke". An improved yoke is available for $175.
I can't tell for certain whether the plug or the seal is the culprit. Does anyone have experience with this repair?
