pulling the cel code ?, 96 land cruiser
not much land cruiser action on here but hopefuly I can get a response. How do you pull the code on a 96 land cruiser? Went to advanced and autozone and both went for the obd II code reader. Could not find the port to get the code but there is the old style diagnostic port under the hood, back passenger side. Tried jumping the Te1 and E1 like in some of the other yotas I've worked on but it wouldn't work on this one. What is going on? I don't want to take it to the stealership because I know they'll rape me just to check it. is this obd I or II, am i doing this wrong or is there a different trick to it. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out. wasted about an hour trying to google it but couldn't find anything that way even.

never mind. I found the obd II port in the fuse box. I feel like a rutard now. Whats up with the diagnostic port if it has the obd port also and you can't pull the check engine light code from it?
