Katzkin leather seat install
I just ordered and installed a set if Katzkin black leather seats for my 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport Double Cab. I bought mine on eBay from Automotive-Specialty out of New Jersey. They were $600 shipped and were sitting at my door the day after I order them! The seller even messaged me to verify that I bought the correct seats for my truck.
They are legit Katzkins for a great price!
Installation was fairly simply, but time consuming. The only tools needed are a phillips screw driver, 14mm socket, a pair of dikes, hog ring pliers and about 100 hog rings.
I started with the headrests. Unfortunately, Toyota glues on the factory fabric so the leather had to go over the factory upholstery - no big deal, still looks good:
For the rest of the seats, the factory fabric comes off using some dikes to remove the factory hog rings and some pulling:
The leather goes on using hog ring pliers and some good stretching over the factory foam. There is no need to remove the ring rods from the factory seats, in fact, the only think that is swapped over from the factory seats to the new leather is the plastic rear middle shoulder belt grommet/guide. Everything else is included in the new leather. Just be sure to note how you removed the factory upholstery because the Katzkins go on just like the factory design. I'd say the hardest part would be stretching the bottoms of the rear seats.
Reinstall everything back into the truck and it is good too go!
The fit is PERFECT! The pictures above were taken right after installation so I hadn't steamed out the wrinkles yet like I had planned to; however, after sitting in the sun for a day, the wrinkles all work themselves out and I didn't even have to steam them. I have absolutely no regrets thus far with the quality and fit. Supposedly, Katzkin is the company that does Toyota dealer installed leather, but the dealership wanted $1,600 for the option. I acheived the same results for $1,000 less and about 6 hours of my time. If you want leather seats in your 2016 Tacoma, I'd definitely recomment going this route!
