Nuther 2WD pick-up thread.

Been cruising the forums looking for "hot Rod" Info on these little trucks, but haven't had much luck. I guess I'll post a few picks of my little turd ASAP.
Basically, a stock 22Re with 5-speed, with 300K on it. Needs a taller 5th gear. I think it's the W55 Trans. (.85 OD). Thinking on running a set of Weld Racing "draglites" and some 275/60/15" BRG's on the rear and 15X4" wheels in front. Gotta cut some of the gear. So far I have redone the cobbled up T-chain job done my a friend who's a body man. NEVER let a body/painter guy work on an engine. Holy hanna. Ran aftermarket bolts through the oil pump and into the brand new TOYOTA T-chain and was driving it like that, Didn't use the GOOD metal guides, Had four (4) different colors of sealers on everything and still leaked oil like a B****, Painted the truck with some cheaper paint and it's peeling off.

I had to re-do the "Aftermarket" exhaust. Cheap, imitation Flowmaster muffler rotted out. I had an decent Single in dual out Flowmaster, so I ran duals out the quarters with turn downs. Sounds pretty good. Better than I thought it would. Truck had plenty of power, but I drive around 60-70 miles/day so I need to squeeze a few more MPG's out of it. I can't believe Toyota didn't gear OD a little higher in these trucks. Will post some pics when I get a chance. Nothing to look at, but it's mine.

I personally dont trust anyone to work on my truck let along a body guy lol.

To get better mileage out of your truck smaller width tires will help a lot. There is a metal tag on the driver side door jam, on this tag is the trans/gear info. It will allow you to figure out what your rear end gear ratio is. The higher the number i.e. 5.29:1 the shorter the gearing, the lower the number i.e. 3.07 the longer the gearing. Long gearing equals slower acceleration but better mpg and lower cruising rpm. So see what you have and maybe you can find a longer gear to help you out.

Bigger wheels will deff help out with the gearing too. A larger diameter wheel/tire will give you longer gearing.

There isn't much weight you can remove. 90% of the trucks weight is the drive train, frame and body. A diet my help you out some.....idk lol it would deff help me out lol.
