cold air intake!

hi I have a 1993 4runner v6 3L and I have been shopping around for some cold air intake systems and I was wondering if they make that big of a difference or if it's not worth the money and if they're worth it should I go for a k&n or what?!

IMHO I don't think you will notice any significant HP or MPG gain either.

Not going to make a difference and will cost you a fortune. And those K&N filters don't filter a damn thing. They let too much through and offer a very minimal gain.

Believe me, I've been down that road.

hi
cold air intake i made mine out of silicone hose and exhaust piping. followed a thread on here think it came under dr z? i have not noticed a lot of difference but am now looking to open up exhaust to allow cold air intake to allow a bigger increase in power rather than using the exhaust alone. as others on yotatech say the exhaust is the biggest restriction to allow engine to breath. other mods? i have carried out are changed auto box oil to dexron 6 and changed diff oil to lucas 75-90 fully synthetic. not sure if there is an hp increase but box changes smoothly and goes in to overdrive at 45mph and cruises with alot less effort from the engine. truck burns slightly less fuel maybe 1 mpg more.

I have been looking at cold air intakes for my '93 Yota pickup 22re. Instead of running the hose all the way across my fan I was considering ataching the cold air intake and the mass air flow sensor directly onto the throttle body. So no hose and it would be on the left side and putting the battery of the other side. Has anyone else on here tried that?

Stop modding your 3vz. itll never be efficient and itll never be fast. Take care of it, and itll run forever.

Hi
have any of the above own a toyota hilux with 3vze engine. mine has a factory cold air inlet. air is drawn from drivers side headlamp with a funnel to airbox. higher pressure air at headlamp is easier to fill airbox and be cooler than underbonnet air.
