I keep an emergency blanket, fire starter flint, some of those wet fire tinder packages, fishing line and lures and hooks, matches and a compass and emergency whistle. it is kinda bulky to carry on my hip, but perfect for throwing in a pack or grabbing out the truck for a day hike
That sheath looks awesome! How long have you had it? and how is it holding up?

Here's my Kershaw Ken Onion assisted opening tanto. I have used this knife for three years for work. It's an excellent knife and the opening action is very tight and reliable. Only trouble I have had with it is it's kinda tuff to sharpen. I picked it up for 50 bucks, not bad for three years of professional service. Looking at possibly retiring it with either a gerber or a SOG.

the sheath is holding up great. It it cordura. durable as hell.

I've had a couple of those kershaw ken onions. Great knives and lifetime warranty. The only thing is ive had to use the warranty twice now. Then i lost them afterwards. I buy 10 dollar walmart knives now. I hate losing a 60 dollar knife in a river or the woods

FYI, Amazon is having a huge sale on BG stuff.
I am going to order the first one below as soon as I post this, $30 is not bad.
If you are skeptical of the Parang, read the guy's first review at the link below, and he has a video too.

Gerber 31-000698 Bear Grylls Survival Series Parang, With Nylon Sheath

This one is on sale too for $39, but I already have the Gerber LMF II or I would order this one.

Gerber 31-000751 Bear Grylls Survival Series Ultimate Knife, Serrated Edge

I ask the hubby for a knife for my BD this year
since it was my 1st one, I did not know what I wanted and what was good out there...
so I looked at some of the most popular brands like Coldsteel ($$$!!!)Gerber, Kershaw (Love the Leek in rainbow!) and Ka-Bar.
since we own a gun shop, we have vendor accounts with many distributors so I was able to get a really good deal on an awesome KA-BAR
I did not want to go all "Jax Teller" on this one so I got a folding blade...LOL
not very girly, and that's perfectly fine with me, I have it on me all the time
so here it is, KA-BAR Field Folder:

Figured I'd bump this
I carry this Zero Tolerance 0780 every day pretty much. I was a bit worried about the coating holding up, but it's done amazingly well. Haven't managed to scuff of scratch it and I am not shy about what I cut.

It's not scratched on the flipper, it's just reflective from the oil from my hands using it to open the knife.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it. But, I use a Morra knife. They're cheap rugged and you can beat the heck out of them. Oh yeah, super sharp too. Check them out on Amazon.
