hi... from nicaragua

in your post #19 you said: Windshield is ordered , and will be here tomorrow .... But , we are replacing ALL of our light fixtures tomorrow , so not sure if i'll get the shield installed tomorrow ..

this are my questions:

why you have to order a new windshield?

you have the part number of the new one?

it was the same size of the old (i suppose the old was the original)?

thnaks

The windshield that was in it was cracked , so it needed a new windshield .
I don't know the # , it was just simply and "aftermarket" windshield

you are correct .. This is why we stopped selling the windshield gasket .
The aftermarket windshields in North America are NOT the same size , they are larger .
gluing/urethane in a windshield does not take the same exact specs as a weather strip , so the aftermarket glass is not to Toyota's exact specifications and does require grinding/sizing

grinding them is not really a big deal, I'm just tired of the "winers " saying .. " it dosnt fit " .. damb dude .. I told ya !
I do still have 2 in stock (my personal stash for my own builds )
I just want people to know .. what they are buying ..

I will not accept refunds because they didn't fit , and I will NOT pay for modifications to make them fit .. you get what you get .

Yes , I did ALL the research BEFORE I did my first order ... I was a parts manager for 20 Years before I started my own business .. so I'm well versed in Toyota parts .

84-88 roof with or with out factory moon roof is same part #
84-88 header panel same part #
84-88 B-pillars Left & Right are the same part #
84-88 cowl section is same part #

I can only deduce that our North American after market windshields are not the EXACT same dimensions .

I am trying to save the OEM shield in my Mojave Tribute ... If I can ... I will know 100% if my theory is correct

Hey Corey:
My son and I are re-building my old 86 Pickup as an offroad-street legal wheeler. You posted a comment on Canadian Toyotaholics with a picture of the twins on the Mojave build and you were conversing about the octane of the fuel in B.C. And N.B., etc. A couple of years ago in preparation for this build I ordered the rubber windshield gasket 56121-89117 from Australia as I wanted to get rid of the chrome trim and the gap around a windshield that is installed with urethane.
I cut the oem windshield out cleaned off the urethane, without incident, installed the gasket and managed to break it during the install. Some things I didn't do was measure the center of the cab and the center of the windshield and mark them so I could line them up perfectly. I believe the windshield was orientated a little toward the drivers side and I think that is why it broke when we tried to get that side to seat properly. Also I don't think I used enough soap for lubrication to allow the rubber to seat properly.
I had another 85 cab junked, so today I cut the oem windshield out of that one.
This is longwinded, but my question is:- do you have any tips for windshield replacement with a gasket that you could share....I really don't want to break a secoud one!
Thanks in advance;

I have installed the North American glass using these .. and it's not a problem , you just need to find a glass shop that will grind the glass.
passenger side lower corner .. up to the middle of the glass , needs to be ground down ~1/4" .. then it fits perfect .

problem is .. you need to find the right glass shop who is competent in doing so ..

If its an OE glass ... it should fit .. so using just the soap with the rope .. or a hook tool will be sufficient , just don't force or bang the glass with your palm .. that is usually what breaks them
