Mechanic - North NJ
Hey guys, not sure where to post this thread. I tried searching but came up with nothing.
I have a 97 4runner that I'm trying to rebuild myself to learn on, and recently picked up an 89 Pickup which I thought would be perfect. It runs, but has some issues. I only have basic mechanical experience, and honestly it's freezing outside. (4runner in my garage with half the engine out, can't move it out, no plates). I need to at least get the pickup running at 95% so I can get to work and get it inspected. I have some friends who own a VW/Audi shop. I'm considering just going to them, or do you think I should find some guys who specialize in Toyotas? I know they're pretty simple to work on, but still. Any ideas? I really appreciate it. If this should go in another subforum please let me know, getting desperate at this point.
Will def need timing belt job, gaskets, etc.

Lived in Buffalo for 3 years, never made it back to NJ , so long winded way of saying no clue on a good shop.
If your Audi/V dub guys are halfway confident they can probably handle a toyota, I grew up on Air cooled VW's

I'd go with friends as mentioned before. I'm at Drum now and these things are rare around here so wouldn't trust any ol'shop to work on it. Shoot I got a forced air propane heater for my garage off Amazon for $88. Doesn't heat shop to t-shirt and shorts temp but definitely takes to brunt off.
