Question Looking for restoration in the MD/PA area

I've got an 84 4runner that has terminal cancer in all the normal places and a couple unusual ones, and I'm looking to get a restoration done. I'm North of Baltimore and wouldn't mind a little travel for quality work, but I'm somewhat limited because the block is cracked and I get 100 miles of towing to my choice of destination through AAA. I just don't have the time or the equipment to do the work myself, nor do I have the skill to do that level of body work. In addition to the body work, while the truck is apart, I need an engine swap w/ wiring harness and ECU to upgrade from the 22r to the 22re, for which I have all of the parts. Any recommendations on a shop that does good work for a reasonable price?

that's going to be pricey for sure. my most recent quote for my 82 was 5k, and I still need to find a bed to rustorate myself.

If you're going through the trouble of swapping from a 22r to an E, why not swap a more powerful engine?

Mostly because I already have the engine, wiring harness, and ECU. The engine only has about 50k on it as it was fully rebuilt for a previous 4runner I owned. It's also a direct swap so it won't add anything to the bill for fabrication. On top of that its a very reliable engine that I could work on in my sleep and get parts on the cheap at any corner store. I considered going the 5cyl diesel route, but it's more trouble than its worth for me. I already get decent highway cruising with my gears, and I'll get a little more HP's out of the fuel injected engine. On the trail, I've never had a power issue since I switched to 4.7:1 low.

I can refer you to a body shop in Westminster. But I cannot say if they would deal with the engine work/swap.
I am about to order some toyotafiberglass quarter panels instead of repairing the sheet metal myself..

send me a PM, and I'll need a more detailed list of what you want done. I can't guarantee they will take your truck, but I can ask.

EDIT: According to the East Coast distributor for toyotafiberglass, you will need to place your order by February 5th since he is only ordering direct form Canada every 6 motnths. IF, you decide this, we may be able to save on shipping by combining our order...just a thought.

Not sure if you're still looking for help or if you prefer to work with just professionals, but I have a home shop where I work on my trucks if you are interested in taking that route. I'm located in Worcester, PA which is about half hour NW of Philly. I'm not a mechanic but I've worked on cars since I was 17. I have a '93 22RE Pickup and a '91 V6 that I work on. I have a 2-ton engine hoist and two stands.
