Good Mechanics In San Francisco Bay Area
Hello everyone, I just recently purchased a 1995 4Runner SR5 with a 5 sp. It looks like it will need a timing belt change in the very near future (135k miles) and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for a Bay Area mechanic that knows Toyota trucks.
Normally I would do the work myself, but living in SF without a garage makes things a bit difficult.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Eric Benson

In Petaluma (If that is in your range) there is a good garage called Petaluma Auto Works, they know their Japanese engines pretty well. Mainly they specialize in Datsun Zs but I have taken my 22RE there a few times for a new timing chain and clutch. They do good work. I bet there are better mechanics in da Bay though.

I go to Yodaman (707 586-7840) in Santa Rosa. The shop only works on Toyota trucks, so they really know what they are doing. The owner Larry is also a really nice guy.

believe it or not. I would recommend Walnut Creek Toyota. They did my HG recall and always gave me good service. I had my last timing belt change done by the dealer (Temecula) and it was the cheapest I could find. $185 w/coupon IIRC.
There is also an independent dealer down in Mt View that specializes in Toyotas/Nissans that I would take my truck to that has a good rep, but I can't think of the name. I'll post it if I remember it.

Larry's Autoworks?

I took my 4Runner there for a major service. Good price, great service. Much better than any dealer in the area.

Im looking for a mechanic to take my 22re in the San Jose, CA area. I heard Yarnell Service Center in Mountain View is good.
Anyone know good mechanics for 22re in Bay Area.

I found Larry up at Yodaman in Santa Rosa to be an expert Toyota mechanic .
He straightened out my front end wobble after much trial and error detective work , and he even sold a set of tires for me that I was looking to unload ...
... him and his son are great .
