the green does look beat up but the color itself looks good on the truck, I like tan! (mines like a tan/gold mix... called desert sand?) but definitely Tan on Tan isn't a good looking combo. the rust isn't too much of a problem! nothing a grinder and a wire wheel can't fix! can the bedsides be taken out? I know chevy's and ford trucks can easily take them off but can Yotas do the same? i've never really looked.. because if so you could use a dead blow hammer and "un-dent" the sides!

I dont know if the bed-sides can come off, either. Never thought about that. I know the older Yotas can. I assume they can on the Tundras.. Im throwing around the idea of bobbing the bed or building a flat bed. Probably not this summer, though.

If I can find an engine hoist, then my money is going to start going towards rebuilding the 22re in my 4Runner. Ive been saving up, so it should be pretty quick once I get one. Probably wont mod the Tundra much more this year.

I put on the new OEM lower ball-joints and NAPA Chassis (repackaged 555 brand. Made in Japan) outer tie-rods and gave it a home front-end alignment. What a difference! I still need to get the uppers done, but I dont have a press, so Im thinking this weekend Im going to have Sears do it.

So instead of spending my money on the 4Runner, I went and spent $700 on a new computer :\. Heh... Its so much better than my Compaq from '04, though!

Still havent gotten the upper ball-joints taken care of. I went camping/light off-roading this past weekend. I found out that a bolt holding the radiator in is missing, it was flexing with the flex of the body and my fan was rubbing on the shroud.
Also, these tires suck on wet pavement. It barely sprinkled jsut before I got off work and on the way home I was spinning the tires, quite a bit. I noticed that when I first put them on, but didnt think anything of it before. Now, its raining a lot, the road is pretty wet, and I can pretty much fishtail going around corners.. Maybe the 2UZ is just SO POWERFUL...

The original MTR's arent the best on wet roads, if you sipe the middle lugs they will be better. Nice transformation, looks liek a good deal on a beater.

I havent driven her much lately with my 4Runner being operational, and really, I have been spending money on the 4Runner. This past wednesday I finally got a window for the driver's side rear door. With the smooshed in cab, the window had about a 1" gap so I tried my hand at Bondo. It was my first time ever, and didnt even watch like how-to's or anything. I dont really care that it looks like crap; this IS just my beater.
The rear diff in my 4Runner started making crazy bad noises this week so looks like the Tundra will be back to DD duties.

Dude, I just read through all 3 pages and your rig has come a long way! I can't believe you picked it up for
$800! Heck, just the motor is worth more than that. Keep at it man, you'll have an extremely nice rig for very little $$$!

Got around to mounting the rack I made 2 months ago. It has just been sitting at work. Nothing special. I'm thinking about making a mount for the spare tire.





Cant decide If I like it better with the Yakima bars on or off.



I still need to paint it, but I am going to do that in my Garage.

I have been driving my 4Runner every day so this truck has been sitting since the beginning of December. I started it up a few times, drove it down the street 3 times just to move things around.

Also, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 a few days ago. I am amazed at how well these pictures came out with it.

I havent been driving the Tundra lately. I dont need to. The 4Runner is better on gas. I have been using the Tundy to haul trash and what now, though.

But tonight I took the bed off in the first stage of a flat bed Im hoping to bump up to 35-37" tires when I am done. I want to make it a dedicated off-road vehicle, but street legal, and a back-up for when my 4Runner is down. Or if I just need a truck.

Cut the frame 8 1/2" to be even with the shackle perches.











The welds look better now that I ran a wire brush over them.







Then I put coils between the frame and leaf springs (ZUK Coil Mod!). Gained about 1.5". Perfect! I cut about a wrap and a half off of some jeep springs I bought a last summer. They are now about 13" IIRC.

I cant decide if I want to put a headache rack on it or not. I have one built that I can modify to fit the flat bed. I still need to take the bed off to paint it, but considering its only 35* today, not this weekend






Also, paint the aluminum or leave it shiny?
