Sportrunner2001's super slow '01 build-up
I figured its about time that I start my own build up with all the little mods Ive been doing lately. It will be slow since im in school and will hopefully get a job this summer since im running out with all my spending haha.
I got the 4Runner June 09 from my parents who bought it new in 2001, SR5 Sport package, 77k, with a yakima/thule hybrid bike rack. My mom got a new 09 LC so i got the Runner.
Not really a picture-taker, first order of business was to remove the running boards and disable DRL
then I didnt do much for a while until we made stickers my tech class and made a yotatech sticker and a couple other "personalized" ones
Theres also one that says TOYOTA on the gauge Cluster in front of the blinker arrows.
Then I got a LoadWarrior as a present from my dad
Before:
After:
Those are the only pictures I have of the different rack setups.
eventually i got tired of hearing straight noise when listening to the stock speakers so i went to best buy and bought some 6.5" pioneer 3-way and 4" kickers and installed them in the doors with no problem.
my dad and I built storage drawers in the cargo area that work really well but I need some better latches.
a couple weeks ago I had a magnaflow put on and love it, I have a V6 that rumbles! also did the Andymod 2.0 around the same time and it made a world of difference driving in the snow
yesterday my 48 led panels came in the mail and had them installed in the domes in a couple minutes. now its super bright in there haha.
also waiting for the ventvisors and bugdeflector to arrive soon and will make sure to take pics since I now have a build thread started. it also has 99300 miles on it now.

Nice lookin truck! From the looks of that water, a diff breather extension may be the next mod in your future.
How are those speakers working out? I've been looking at replacing mine too.

yeah im lucky i live up high and dont have to drive through it all that much but its definitely on the list of mods which go on forever it seems.
the pioneers are great, no complaints whatsoever. but the kickers are a little iffy and distort really quickly. i still have the kickers in but i won some JBL GTO528s in a raffle at a stereo comp last month so those are in instead. the pioneers are now hooked up in my crappy little stereo i have because they are so much better than the ones in there before.
I also added a voltmeter last night,

Nice sport runner! I see that you have the yakima cross-bars under the load warrior rack. Do they just clip into the tracks with a yakaima tower? I'm trying to fit a loadwarrior rack but i have the factory crossbars on my '99 four runner. I'm hoping I can just bolt my rack on there. Did you notice any gas mileage difference?

on the gas milage it works harder on the interstate at 80 but around town i still get 17-18. it has a sort of bracket that goes under the bars and has hand screws to tighten it. itll work on the factory bars too as long as theyre 30 or 31 inches apart i dont remember which

long overdue update! Ordered and installed clear corners the smoked LED tails from ebay.
I had been looking at the Level 8 brand of wheels for a while since they're good quality at a good price and they finally came out with a rim I love so i ordered them off of discount tire direct with free shipping. still 16s but with the -12 offset. Then came the daystar 2" kit that my Toyota dealer installed. Other than that I havent done much. In college so time and money is an issue on mods.
Also put in the blue sea fuse block for when I get around to a lightbar in the rack, CB, and hopefully an AOR bumper with lights in it as well. Been contemplating a projector retrofit this summer, still on the fence about that one.
Thanks.
