Amorphous...
I'm fond of that particular line too. I smashed my bike computer on a rock during an endo there several years ago. Gotta try to remember- rubber side DOWN.

Aviator...
Why didn't I think of that??? I've already got a 90 on the backside of the radio. Duh duh duh duh duh. Thanks!
I did see the lions you speak of. They have the original skulls on display next to a pair of stuffed lions. They used the original skins on those. I think the exhibit is called The Man-eaters of Tsavo, something like that.

That's the exhibit... If/when I make it to Chi-town it is at the top of my list of things to see...

Urgh! Who said the hubby could work on the yotas???

99 4runner grey wire mod. Well, the wire isn't really grey, but you get the picture. Locker now works in 2, 4hi, 4lo.
He also took up a little slack in the throttle cable.

I'm going to have to have a talk with that man of mine...
:p

I think this one's staying mostly stock for now. Maybe bigger tires when we have to replace those. The hubby keeps eying superchargers but the gain's not worth it. Since he's got his 330ish horsepower Volvo wagon the 4runner will still feel slow to him.

yah, but the deckplate is a reversible easy 10+ HP gain...really nice SOTP gain in the 3-4K RPM range....and with bigger tires...yer gonna need that! Costs under $20...and only takes about 45 minutes to do...

I know, I did it on the 96 but the hubby scoffs and since he's the one who drives it more...
Got a link to proof of that info? He's from Arkansas but has a Show Me attitude.

gosh...DNK a link, but i'd bet there's a DYNO chart somewhere's linked to YT that has it. It's kind of a no-brainer, mas airflow direct to the intake. IDK - have him put his hand over your '96's deckplate and work the throttle - you can FEEL the air getting swooped in.

96 4runner 208,000 miles Timing belt, belts, hoses, both idler pulleys.
I talked the husband into taking pics of me actually doing something to the truck but he's now in the doghouse because he was supposed to make me look like my 20 year old self. *sigh*
Anyway, timing belt done....here I'm actually finishing up with the belts. Yes, those are bare feet. If bare feet are good enough for getting married they're good enough for a timing belt.

You look just fine to me Habsie... I'd let him out... and lets face it even a 20 yr old does'nt look 20 when messing with a t-belt...

that broken toe nail is going to be a pain with sandle season and the jr. prom coming up fast... if it's not too badly smashed it is pos. to glue it back together with a little super glue.. if she uses a thick dark nail polish it should cover up nicely... she just needs to be careful when trimming till the broken part has grown out...

99 4runner
Pulled the front and rear gold badges (barf) and gold antenna retainer nut (barf) and the flaking rear wiper arm end thingy , sanded the badges with fine grit sandpaper, then fine steel wool, and painted them all a dark bronze color that matches the lettering on the hatch.
Next I pulled the passenger side lock and decorative metal ring and sanded those down to the silver color. I've still got the rear hatch and driver's side locks to do. I won't be painting them because they'd just scratch up right away from the key anyway. At least they aren't going to be gold anymore.

96 4runner.
Today I noticed the rack and pinion jumps around when the steering wheel is wiggled. Ordered mount bushing to replace the worn one.
Also have a couple of Moog sway bar links and a couple of sway bar bushings on order. Hoping that'll fix my squeak though they're toast either way.

Guess this is the year of the rubber bits replacement?
