Your guy's opinion of Pop n Loc tailgate lock
I've had my CAT stolen from my 2003 Taco and if the economy keeps heading the way it is, I'm sure my tailgate is next. I've tried putting an I-bolt on the tailgate and one in the bed, then securing with a pad lock. However someone could just under the tailgate latch and just kick the tailgate hard which would rip the I-bolt out of the tailgate.
I tried searching this site, but saw no reviews or comments about this device.
So for $50 I can get a pop n lock tailgate lock which would prevent them from lifting up on the tailgate handle and stealing my tailgate. Anyone one using this or heard of a reason why it wouldn't work?
Here is link to what I;m talking about (I'm not interested in electronic one)

as for pop and lock.
Just pop, lock and drop it
Honestly, the metal thes use for the body isnt made of platinum like that cats are, so I hoestly wouldnt worry much about it.
But you could always make some sort of L that would bolt to both the tail gate then the bed, a longer bolt to go through the bed that would have a pad lock on the bottom of it/under the bed

You guys must all live in a crime free paradise. Tailgates seem to wander off around the Portland area periodically.
tweekers sell them on craigslist for dirt cheap...
I had the pop a lock on my old '05, it is a great product. Another thing that you can do that prevents them from just opening the tail gate and walking away with it is to put hose clamp around the end that lifts out (passenger side I think). You will just need to rotate the screw portion down so it does not bind when you open and close the tailgate..$.75 to slow a tweeker down a little bit...

I have one on my Taco. I like it, and its a little bit more peace of mind than not having one. It'll send the thief onto the next truck, where the pickings are much easier. As for the price, get it from Ebay:

I've had my pick up tailgate stolen here in PHX.
Once the tailgate was off......another 20 seconds and both rear tailights go.
All toll.........almost 500.00 at a yard to replace the parts
A few others were stolen as well that night in my neighborhood.
Try putting a hose clamp around the round hinge barrel that lets it lift out.
That hose clamp may keep them busy for too long to hang around.
The clamp prevents the tailgate from being lifted out.
This will work for most makes and models.
