Don't ride through Georgia, we just re-did the tint laws, and the law will bust your @$$. We can have a strip, but not the whole window. Georgia did have a law but got it got voted unconstitutional b/c of other states law allow in tint darker than 35%. The cops started complaining while everyone rushed out and got limo tint and then the state put the old rule back in effect but it goes for everyone including out of state drivers. No matter what your laws state, Georgia will give you a ticket.

I drive through Georgia and they can suck my $%#@!!! If I get a ticket I will be pissed and pay it so I don't have a warrant, but giving an out of state vehicle with different laws a ticket is ridiculous.

I have 5% on the back and 10% up front and no problems here and the cops won't say anything in most cases if you have your window down before they approach the vehicle.
I had 5% on my Eclipse for 8 years with no hassles.

Georgia, one of the hottest frigging states going and they want to ticket someone for tint, especially someone from out of state... I don't think so.
You see, the Constitution of these frigging United States entitles these 50 some odd states to assign their own rights and privileges to their citizenry as they deem necessary or fit.
For one state to impun(sp?) the rights of another is, therefore, unconstituional. Georgia is not lord and master over the rest of the US and it is impetuous of them to think and/or act as though they are.
No, I would not "...pay the ticket...", I'd take it and attach it to the back of a suit that I would be filing in federal court to put an end to such ridiculous nonsense.
If they want to pass a law about "tint", if anything, they should pass one that makes it mandatory for the occupants of the vehicle being stopped to roll down the windows prior to the officers approaching said vehicle and let it go at that.

I have 35% on the front windows. I did this before I tinted over the factory tinted rears. I have 20% over the rear windows now.
Either way I looks awesome. It is not too dark and not darker than the rears.
If you go more than 35% on the front without doing the rear, they will be DARKER.
this is 35% on the doors with a layer of 20% on rears

H.B. 20 (Window Tint) - Amends 40-8-73.1 - Effective May 2, 2005
Revives the window tint statute which was recently found unconstitutional by the Georgia Supreme Court with some minor modifications.
Makes it a misdemeanor to violate specified window-tint restrictions
· Applies to both residents & non-residents.
· No window tinting on front windshield.
· On windows to either side of driver or in back of vehicle, the light transmission restriction may not be less than 32%, plus or minus 3% or increase light reflectance more than 20%.
· Labels indicating that tinted windows meet state specifications are no longer required.
Exceptions:
1. Sun visors mounted on front windshields.
2. On front windshields - lower left and right corners in a 5" or 7" square (respectively).
3. On front windshields - Passenger Common Carrier Signs meeting statutory specifications.
4. Upper most 6" on front windshield can have a transparent item which is not red or amber.
5. Any Federal, state or county required stickers may be placed as required
6. Rear windshields & side windows behind the driver of a:
a. Multipurpose passenger vehicle
b. School bus
c. Public transportation bus
d. Non-profit bus
e. Limousines
f. Windows tinted before factory delivery
g. Tinting otherwise expressly permitted by federal law
7. Anywhere on law enforcement vehicle.
The DPS (DMVS until July 1) may issue dark tinting permits to persons with special medical needs requiring tinting. Any GA Installer installing tinting in violation of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Please refer to the bill for exceptions. (The bill can be viewed by clicking on the following link: http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2...ltext/hb20.htm.)
Taken form the state page. I think they will amend the non-resident part.

I guess I'll avoid Nazi Georgia.
States can do what they want but to enforce a restriction on a non-resident that in their home state is perfectly legal is unconstitutional;I'm sure that'll really help their tourism industry since they won't be getting any of my money in that state.
